Relatives of martyrs in Quang Dien were moved when receiving restored portraits of their fallen loved ones. |
Towards the day of gratitude to national heroes and those who have contributed to the revolution, the Youth Union and the Department of Meritorious People of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs in coordination with grassroots unions have planned to implement a program to restore martyrs' portraits to present to relatives of those who have contributed to the revolution who wish to register. After more than a month of announcing to localities, the Youth Union of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has received more than 70 cases of relatives of those who have contributed to the revolution registering to restore martyrs' portraits. Of which, Hue City has 24 martyrs' relatives registering to restore their portraits; Phong Dien District has 16 cases; Quang Dien District has 10 cases; Phu Vang, Phu Loc, A Luoi District, Huong Tra Town, Huong Thuy Town have 22 relatives registering.
Most of the photos of martyrs sent by their relatives are black and white, blurred or have lost many parts. To restore the photos to be clearer, brighter and more beautiful, the Department's Youth Union has called for the cooperation of members of the grassroots units with expertise and knowledge in the field of restoring old photos, editing photoshop... to restore the images.
Mr. Nguyen Van Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, said that thanks to the support of modern equipment and software, along with the enthusiasm and dynamism of the participating members, the work of restoring old images is simpler and more convenient. However, for some images that are too old and too blurry, it takes a lot of time to edit and consult with the martyrs' relatives to ensure that the restored photos are realistic and clearly show the faces. "Each successfully restored portrait of a martyr brings indescribable joy to those participating in the restoration. Even more special, when these portraits are completely framed and personally given to the martyrs' families, we feel more sacred and moved," Mr. Nguyen Van Anh shared.
These days, more than 70 successfully restored portraits of martyrs are being presented to the families of those who have contributed to the cause. This is a humane and practical activity of the young generation to express their gratitude to the heroic martyrs on the occasion of this year's War Invalids and Martyrs Day. Mr. Phan Nong, son of martyr Phan Dieu, Trung Lang village, Quang Thai commune (Quang Dien) shared: "Receiving the portrait of my father who sacrificed himself decades ago, my relatives and I were extremely moved. For many years, we have intended to restore our father's portrait to worship, but have not been able to do so. Now, receiving this meaningful gift from the union members, the family members feel warmer and more proud of their husband, father, and grandfather."
In the province, there are currently more than 19,000 martyrs out of a total of nearly 89,000 people who contributed to the revolution. The restoration of martyrs' portraits by the youth union members, although small and not many in number, has partly shown their hearts and gratitude to the heroic martyrs. In the coming time, when more martyrs' portraits are restored and presented to relatives, this will be a testament for those who remain, the younger generations, to forever remember and honor those who did not hesitate to sacrifice their blood and bones for the peace and independence of the nation.
