Northern Power Corporation receives 164.6 MW of registered rooftop solar power

The Northern Power Corporation said that so far, 111 customers have registered for rooftop solar power with a total capacity of 164.6 MW; of which, 64 customers have completed installation, putting 72.3 MW into operation.

In the context of the world's strong transition to clean energy, Vietnam has committed to net zero emissions by 2050. This is both a challenge and an opportunity for each roof to become a "mini power plant", providing green energy, saving costs and protecting the environment.

According to the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC), to date, 111 customers have registered for rooftop solar power with a total capacity of 164.6 MW; of which, 64 customers have completed installation, putting 72.3 MW into operation. In addition, organizations and individuals have also invested an additional 454 MWp and a battery storage system (BESS) of about 8,600 kWh.

Based on the Power Plan VIII approved by the Prime Minister in Decision 262/QD-TTg (2024) and Decision 768/QD-TTg (2025), in the period of 2025 - 2030, the 17 northern provinces (except Hanoi ) will develop 19,057 MW of rooftop solar power and 11,053 MW of concentrated solar power. The Northern Power Corporation has assigned specific plans to each Power Company and encouraged them to exceed their targets.

The goal is to have 50% of households install rooftop solar power by 2030. The electricity sector also proposed implementing preferential credit policies and simplifying procedures to promote investment, while also hoping for the support of local authorities in legal support, storage technology and creating conditions for sustainable energy development.

With the determination of the Northern Power Corporation and the coordination of localities, rooftop solar power is expected to become a key driving force in the energy transition process, contributing to realizing the goals of green economy and sustainable development.
