On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025), on July 22, Sao Mai singer Khanh Ly officially released the music video (MV) "Con mai voi non song" as a stick of incense offering to the heroes who fell for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

The song “Con mai voi non song” was composed by People’s Artist Pham Phuong Thao from the poem by Khanh Duong, arranged by musician Pham Tuan Anh. The MV was directed by Anh Quan and filmed live at historical sites in Quang Tri : Thach Han River Wharf, Ancient Citadel, Hien Luong Bridge-17th Parallel, Truong Son Martyrs Cemetery…

As soon as she received this song from her senior Pham Phuong Thao, Khanh Ly was drawn into the historical space and pain of a time of war. The lyrics are simple, honest and touching, the rhythm is calm but full of loss, making her feel like she is living in the heroic but painful moments of the nation.

“Each lyric touches my heart: ‘Oh Central Vietnam, oh Quang Tri. The carrying pole bends at both ends of the country. Each piece of sacred land is soaked with the blood of many people’... Every time I sing, I feel choked with emotion, as if seeing the silhouettes of soldiers from the past on the battlefield,” Khanh Ly shared.

People's Artist Pham Phuong Thao highly appreciated her junior's choice and handling: "Khanh Ly has a wide vocal range, even sound, good technique, singing with just the right amount of everything from voice to emotion. She puts herself in the role of a storyteller, taking listeners back to the past and then making them tearful and passionate in the present. Khanh Ly sings like a 'spiritual tour guide', very real, very genuine but also full of grandeur."

In the MV, singer Khanh Ly not only stands and sings but actually transforms into a daughter accompanying her father, listening to sacred stories of the past.

Director Anh Quan commented that Khanh Ly is not a professional actress, but she plays her role very delicately. Every look, every step she takes with her father, or every moment she gently touches the tombstones… are like words of gratitude. Khanh Ly acts very naturally, honestly and inspires the audience.

When watching this MV, People's Artist Quang Tho felt proud and moved that the young generation of singers like Khanh Ly are continuing the traditional music genre.

“Our music flow is very wide now, with many different branches of music, but red music - the mainstream music - is not as important as it used to be. Khanh Ly's MV recreates the fiercest days of war in Quang Tri. I am moved by musical works like this,” People's Artist Quang Tho expressed./.

Sao Mai Khanh Ly is a Doctor of Music, currently teaching vocal music at the Vietnam National Academy of Music. She has released many music products that have been well received by the public, such as the album “Far Away Land”, the album “The Season of Leaves Passing”, the album “Lullaby of Origin”, the MV “The Winter is Not Cold”, the MV “Rule”, the MV “Spring Melody”, the MV “The Bright Party”, the MV “Ly”, the MV “Ha Noi Ngay Thang Cu”…
