(Baoquangngai.vn) - Tu Nghia District Agricultural Service Center has organized the transfer of the commercial H'Mong chicken (also known as black chicken) farming model to a number of households in Nghia Thuan commune. After a period of implementation, the model initially brought economic efficiency, opening a new direction for farmers in developing family economy.

Starting to participate in the commercial H'Mong chicken farming model with 300 chickens since the end of September 2023, up to now, Mr. Vo Thanh Quang's chicken flock in My Thanh Dong village, Nghia Thuan commune has grown well and is about to be sold. After nearly 3 months of raising, Mr. Quang's chicken flock has reached a weight of 1.3 - 1.5 kg/chicken. In about 1 month, they can be sold.

Mr. Quang shared that raising commercial H'Mong chickens is a new model in Tu Nghia district, implemented by the district's Agricultural Extension Center. Each participating household is supported with 300 chickens, supplies and technical guidance. H'Mong chickens are a breed of chicken in the North, so when I started raising this breed of chicken, I was quite worried because I was afraid they would not adapt to the weather. However, up to now, the chickens have developed healthily, grown quickly, and the loss rate is very low compared to other breeds of chickens.

“With the positive signals that this model brings, in the coming time, I will invest in more barns and expand the scale of raising H'Mong chickens to increase my family's income,” said Mr. Quang.

Hmong chicken is a breed of chicken with a black body. Black feathers, black legs, black comb, black meat and black bones. This breed of chicken is very easy to raise, has the ability to withstand the environment and diseases very well. Like all other poultry, Hmong chicken grows and develops through stages. Especially in the chick stage, it is necessary to take good care, ensuring the temperature to keep the chicken warm.

The main food sources for chickens are rice, corn, green vegetable bran, natural grass, etc., which are available locally, helping people reduce the cost of animal feed, bringing high economic value. H'Mong chicken meat is firm, delicious, has high nutritional value, and is used both as food and as a valuable medicine in folk medicine. This is considered one of the precious commercial chicken breeds, favored by many people.

Mr. Pham The My in Phu Thuan village also started a commercial H'Mong chicken farming model with 300 breeding chickens. As a worker at a pig farm, taking advantage of the vacant land of the farm, Mr. My registered to participate in the H'Mong chicken farming model to have more money to cover family expenses.

“With an average selling price of 120,000 - 140,000 VND/kg of H'Mong chicken according to market prices, the chickens can be sold before Tet. The profit from the chickens promises to give my family a full Tet,” Mr. My excitedly expressed.

Director of Tu Nghia District Agricultural Service Center Ton Long Can said that the initial effectiveness of the implementation has shown that the potential of the commercial H'Mong chicken farming model is very large. In the coming time, the center will continue to replicate the model in other localities in Tu Nghia district. Thereby, opening up a new direction of livestock farming, contributing to diversifying livelihood models; eliminating hunger and reducing poverty for the people.
