From September 29 to October 4, the 2024 Italian Film Festival will take place at the Galaxy Cinema complex (116 Nguyen Du, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City).
The event was organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City in collaboration with the Asian Film Festival in Rome and accompanying partners, with the desire to bring Vietnamese audiences a contemporary perspective on Italian cinema.

The festival will present and screen for free six of the latest and most popular films from Italian filmmakers, ranging from dramas to comedies.
The films to be screened include: “Io Capitano” (I am the Captain) by director Matteo Garrone; “Palazzina Laf” (Cold Rolling Mill) by director Michele Riondino; “Zamora” by director Neri Marcorè; “Quell'Estate Con Irene” (Summer with Irene) by director Carlo Sironi; “Rapito” (Kidnap) by director Marco Bellocchio; “La Chimera” (The Unrealized Dream) by director Alice Rohrwacher.
These films have won many prestigious awards in Europe and around the world , representing the quintessence of Italian cinema.
Through scenes ranging from reality to dreams, from humor to despair, they provide insight into multifaceted modern Italian society, touching on political , economic and social topics such as migration and working conditions. The film has Vietnamese and English subtitles.
All screenings will begin at 7pm. Following each screening, there will be a Q&A session and discussion about the film with Artistic Director of the Asian Film Festival in Rome and the Italian Film Festival in Ho Chi Minh City Antonio Termenini.
Within the framework of the Film Festival, on October 2, the Consulate General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City and the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City will organize a workshop on "Filmmaking trends of contemporary Italian cinema" with the participation of Artistic Director Antonio Termenini.
In addition, the Organizing Committee also launched a contest to comment on Italian films shown at the Festival for all audiences to have objective perspectives and assessments of the films shown, with attractive prizes.
