- Reporter: Recently, people in Quang Ngai City have reported that the domestic water supply provided by Quang Ngai Construction and Water Supply Joint Stock Company is showing signs of shortage. So what solutions does the company have to solve this situation, sir?

+ Mr. Nguyen Dang Do: Currently, during peak hours of the day such as noon and evening, the water pressure provided by the company in some places is weak, leading to local water shortages. This is easily noticed by customers because the amount of water through the system is quite weak during the two peak hours mentioned above.

The reason is that the underground water source exploited for customers is in short supply. The company has reported this situation in writing to the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial People's Committee has agreed in principle to allow the company to exploit surface water on the Tra Khuc River. The location to be exploited is at the south of Tra Khuc 1 bridgehead, to supplement the raw water source for water treatment, ensuring enough water for daily life to serve the people.

It is expected that in the second quarter of 2025, the investment will be completed, put into operation and exploited, with an additional water source of about 10 thousand cubic meters/day and night. Thereby, contributing to overcoming the current shortage of domestic water during peak hours in some places far from the upstream works. This is also a backup water source to replace the water source of current groundwater exploitation wells when there is an incident due to the impact of the implementation of the project to prevent landslides and beautify the landscape of the southern bank of Tra Khuc River and Tra Khuc Bridge 1, which is expected to start construction in October 2025.

- Reporter: Sir, to ensure continuous and uninterrupted supply of domestic water to customers, what other conditions does the company need?

+ Mr. Nguyen Dang Do: In operating the water supply system, in addition to ensuring a stable water source, a stable power source is also required. However, this is an issue that the company cannot take the initiative in. When there is a power outage, the electricity sector needs to promptly notify the company to grasp and inform customers about the water supply stoppage or weak water according to the power outage schedule so that customers know and reserve water. However, during operation, there are times when the power suddenly goes out due to incidents, leading to interruptions in water supply activities. In this case, water users need to share. The company also hopes for close coordination from relevant parties, including the electricity sector.

- Reporter: Currently, the demand for domestic water is increasing, while the supply is not guaranteed. So what is the necessary solution to balance supply and demand at this time, sir?

+ Mr. Nguyen Dang Do: Currently, the company is making efforts to take the next steps so that in June 2025, it can exploit the surface water source on Tra Khuc River to supplement the supply for people. From now until then, in addition to using water reasonably and economically, customers using large amounts of water, especially businesses with tanks, need to have a plan to store water, prioritizing water intake during off-peak hours (around 8:00 p.m. the previous day to 4:00 a.m. the next day). The purpose is to prioritize the amount of water during the day for people's daily needs.

- Reporter: It is known that there are still many people who need but have not been able to use the company's tap water. So in the coming time, what plans does the company have to meet this legitimate need of the people?

+ Mr. Nguyen Dang Do: The current domestic water supply service area of ​​the company is Quang Ngai City and the centers of Binh Son, Tu Nghia, Mo Duc, Duc Pho Town; water supply for industrial production in Quang Phu, Tinh Phong, VSIP Quang Ngai Industrial Parks. Water supply infrastructure is continuously invested in expansion, upgrading and gradually replacing the old pipe system, but still cannot supply water to 100% of the people in the area.

Hopefully, when the project to upgrade and expand the urban water supply system is completed, plus the Quang Ngai Water Plant under construction in Nghia Ky and Nghia Thuan communes is completed and put into operation, directly connected to the company's water supply system, it will better solve the need for domestic water for people in the company's water supply area.
