Late on April 26, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) announced that the runway lighting system was officially lit up, successfully tested, illuminated the runway, and was ready for calibration flights before April 30.
This is a meaningful milestone at the Long Thanh International Airport construction site, celebrating the 50th anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

The signal system uses LED technology imported from Europe, meeting the highest technical standards in the international aviation industry.
Along with that, Long Thanh airport is also equipped with an ILS/DME precision landing guidance system, helping to guide aircraft to approach and land safely, even in bad weather conditions.
These two systems work together synchronously to ensure that take-off and landing take place safely and with absolute precision in all weather conditions, improving the operational capacity and stability of the airport.
"The successful opening of the signal system is an important step forward, contributing to affirming that the runway has basically met the technical conditions for calibration flights as planned before April 30," said the ACV leader.

Long Thanh airport's runway number 1 is 4km long and 70m wide and can accommodate the most advanced aircraft today.
According to plan, the runway will be completed and put into technical operation before April 30, 3 months shorter than planned.
The 5,000-hectare Long Thanh International Airport project has a total estimated investment of about VND336,630 billion. In phase one, the airport will build a runway, a passenger terminal and other ancillary facilities with a capacity of 25 million passengers per year, expected to be completed in 2026.
