Before that, the torch procession took place from the Ho Chi Minh Museum to the fire tower in Ba Dinh Square. The torch was handed over to Lieutenant General Nguyen Duc Soat, a hero of the People's Armed Forces, former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, and a pilot who shot down 6 American planes, to light the fire tower.
