On May 21, in Hanoi , to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the founding of the National Archives Center III, a seminar and exhibition on personal documents were held.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Tran Viet Hoa, Director of National Archives Center III, said: National Archives Center III is a public service unit under the Department of State Records and Archives ( Ministry of Home Affairs ), performing the function of collecting, editing, preserving and organizing the exploitation and use of archival documents of national significance from the August Revolution in 1945 to the present. The activity of collecting personal, family and clan documents is identified as one of the important activities of the Center.
Over the past 30 years of formation and development, the work of collecting and compiling documents of personal origin at the Center has achieved certain results.
Currently, the Center is managing more than 200 document collections of personal, family, and clan origin, which are documents created during the life and creative activities of individuals, such as: Biographical documents, certificates, letters, books, official documents, manuscripts of works, creative works and scientific research...

According to Ms. Tran Viet Hoa, these are valuable sources of documents, reflecting diversely and vividly the material and spiritual lives of the people, contributing to providing authentic perspectives on social development as well as portraits and lives of typical individuals, families and clans of Vietnam.
These documents are also of special value in research on the history of cultural, artistic, scientific and diplomatic activities as well as the lives, contributions and works of the country's outstanding individuals.
The Director of National Archives Center III also affirmed that documents and memorabilia of personal origin when preserved at the Center will have their lifespan extended, increasing the public's opportunities to access and learn about these documents.
The process of creating and preserving the works and artifacts of individuals is demonstrated through the exhibition of personal documents.
At the exhibition, the Center selected and introduced nearly 200 images and archives of 8 typical individuals including: Playwright Luu Quang Vu; Writer, Playwright Dao Hong Cam; Theater activist Long Chuong; Associate Professor, Doctor, Director, People's Artist Ngo Manh Lan; Writer, Playwright Nguyen Tat Dat; Doctor, Playwright Tran Dinh Ngon; Writer, Playwright Hoc Phi; Poet, Playwright Nguyen Thi Hong Ngát.

Through these documents, viewers not only feel the talent and creativity of each individual, but also see the spiritual life and social history of the country, the noble human values that are nurtured along with the rich cultural history of the Vietnamese people in many aspects.
Among them, many works and research projects before coming to the "common home" on the shelves of the archives have been shared, have come to life, have been named and recorded in scientific forums, under the spotlight or in typical events of different industries, professions and fields. These are typical, valuable and rare archival documents of the nation, contributing to enriching the composition of the Vietnamese state archives.
Also at the event, a discussion on personal documents of origin took place, with the participation of speakers who were individuals and representatives of individuals and families who donated documents to the Center, along with representatives of archives and management agencies operating in the cultural field.
At the seminar, delegates shared and introduced their personal journey of creation and work, the process of preserving valuable documents as well as dialogue with archival agencies in preserving, conserving and promoting the value of documents in the future.
