Musician Do Bao was appointed Director of the Military Symphony Orchestra (MSO).

Musician Do Bao was born in 1978 in Hanoi , joined the Sao Mai band at the age of 15 and quickly made his mark as a composer with First Love Letter when he was only 20 years old. With nearly three decades of experience, Do Bao is the author and producer behind many influential music projects such as Eclipse (2002), Canh Cung (2004), Time to Love (2008), Story of the Sun - Story of Us (2013). He also collaborated with many leading singers such as People's Artist Tan Minh, singer Tung Duong, Tran Thu Ha, Nguyen Ngoc Anh...

The establishment of a regular symphony orchestra is in line with the direction of continuing the tradition of military arts - where music has always been a spiritual weapon for more than 80 years of building and fighting. Historically, symphony orchestras have been mobilized for many major works such as the dance drama Nghe Tinh Flame from the 1960s or the musicals Love Story (2022), Red Aspiration (2024). However, after each project, the musicians return to their units, the army does not have a professional symphony orchestra operating regularly.

MSO is affiliated with the Military University of Culture and Arts - the cradle of professional music training of the army. The orchestra gathers a team of artists and lecturers who have been trained domestically and internationally, capable of performing classical instrumental music programs, symphonies - chamber music, choirs, revolutionary songs and performing in ceremonies and political events of the army and the State.

According to its functions, MSO not only performs but also undertakes training and fostering symphony musicians for the army; participates in cultural and artistic exchanges with the people and international friends; contributes to bringing classical music closer to the public, spreading humanistic values and patriotism.

The establishment of MSO is expected to contribute to the orientation of musical aesthetics in the entire army, build a cultural life for officers and soldiers, and at the same time create a practice and creative environment for students of the Military University of Culture and Arts. In the context of integration and digital transformation, the orchestra is identified as a symbol of intelligence, discipline and creativity of Vietnamese artists and soldiers.

As planned, tomorrow, November 21, the Military University of Culture and Arts will hold a ceremony to announce the Ministry of National Defense's Decision on the establishment of the Military Symphony Orchestra (MSO). This event marks a major step forward for the Military University of Culture and Arts in its 70 years of artistic activities.

Musician Do Bao returns to do live concerts . After many years of silence, musician Do Bao - author of the hit "First Love Letter" decided to "go big" by organizing a live concert celebrating 30 years of music in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in November.
