In recent days, many parents in Ho Chi Minh City have reported that the Australian International English Center closed and the director went missing after they paid tuition for their children to study there.

Mr. T. (residing in Thu Duc City) said that in June 2024, he registered for a 3-year English course for his child at the Australian English Center with a total cost of more than 31 million VND, paid in full.

The center promised to teach on schedule. However, on May 8, 2025, the parent received a notice that the center was temporarily closed for repairs. A week later, the staff said they could not contact the center director.

“I and many other parents have not received any notice or refund. I have filed a police report about the incident,” said Mr. T.

Similarly, Ms. N. (another parent) shared that her two children have been studying at the center for many years. In 2023, she continued to register her two children to study. The older child paid the full course fee of more than 45 million VND, the younger child studied a 30-month course for nearly 40 million VND.

“When the center sent a notice of a one-week closure for repairs, I had no doubts. When I learned that the center was closing and not temporarily closing as announced, I was very surprised. Although I know it will be difficult to get my money back, I hope the authorities will intervene to clarify and protect the rights of parents,” Ms. N. shared.

According to records, the incident only came to light when parents received messages from the center's staff through class groups, informing them that they could not contact the director for many days.

Many parents gathered at Kha Van Can (Thu Duc City) to make a list and send a petition to Thu Duc City Police and the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City. Initial statistics show that more than 200 people were affected at this facility, not to mention other branches.

It is known that the Australian English Center (AIES) belongs to Duy Khang Education and Training Company Limited, established in 2007, headquartered at 182-184-186 Le Van Viet Street, Thu Duc City.

Currently, the website of the Australian English Center has stopped working, only displaying information about the domain name owner.
