Ilya Zabarny agrees to join PSG. |
Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano says the Ligue 1 and Champions League champions have reached a personal agreement with the Bournemouth centre-back. Zabarny has agreed a five-year contract with PSG. The two clubs will negotiate a transfer fee this week.
The Daily Mail reports that Bournemouth have placed a £60m price tag on Zabarny. PSG see the 22-year-old as a back-up to Marquinhos. The Brazil international turns 31 next year. Despite having a long-term contract with PSG until 2028, Marquinhos has attracted interest from Saudi Arabian clubs.
With Milan Skriniar expected to leave this summer, PSG are quickly looking for a right-footed centre-back, and Zabarny seems to be the ideal choice. The player is highly regarded for his one-on-one ability and has the qualities to adapt well to coach Luis Enrique's tactics.
Zabarny is a mainstay in the Bournemouth squad and has not missed a minute of the Premier League season so far.
However, L'Equipe also pointed out that bringing Zabarny to PSG could be difficult, as he would likely have to play alongside a Russian teammate, goalkeeper Matvey Safonov. This could influence the Ukrainian centre-back's final decision.
This summer, Bournemouth also just said goodbye to another centre-back (Dean Huijsen joined Real Madrid) and earned a transfer fee of 50 million pounds.
The Premier League club is also at risk of losing left-back Milos Kerkez, as Liverpool could pay £45 million to bring the player to Anfield.
