Head of the Central Propaganda Department inspects flood and storm recovery work in Moc Chau

On the afternoon of September 13, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia and a working delegation inspected the damage and recovery work after floods in Moc Chau district, Son La.
Moc Chau is one of the localities affected by storm No. 3, with nearly 130 houses damaged by landslides and flooding; more than 250 hectares of agricultural crops affected; a number of schools, power systems, and roads damaged by landslides and flooding... Total damage is nearly 20 billion VND. With the motto of “4 on-site”, Moc Chau district has directed and mobilized forces and means to overcome the consequences of natural disasters. Up to now, houses of households with roofs blown off or flooded have been repaired. Households with landslides have had their people and property moved to safety. For households whose houses were damaged by landslides, communes and towns are mobilizing machinery and forces to clear the amount of soil and rocks. Basically, landslide-affected roads in the area have been repaired in time to allow traffic and goods to flow.

Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia sent his condolences, encouragement and visits to the households affected by storm No. 3. At the same time, he acknowledged the proactive spirit of Son La province in general and Moc Chau district in particular in the face of the unusual developments of storm No. 3 and the floods after the storm, contributing to minimizing damage to people and property. At the same time, he directed Son La province and Moc Chau district to continue to promote the "4 on-site" motto to prevent and respond to floods.

"Son La still has a very high risk of landslides. We must not be subjective or negligent. We must be extremely vigilant and have safe solutions early and from afar, and be truly proactive. Second, we must focus on taking care of and overcoming the consequences of storms and floods, especially the lives of the people. We request that the province and district soon have a plan to restore and develop production; create the best conditions for students in storm-affected areas to enter the new school year," said the Head of the Propaganda Department. On this occasion, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia presented 53 gifts to households affected by storm No. 3 and students with difficult circumstances who have excelled in their studies in Hua Pang commune.
