Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy is proud of its 45-year journey of construction and development.

(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of November 16, Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy held a celebration of the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, and a meeting to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment and development of Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Attending the program were Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Trung Chien, former Minister of Health ; Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, former Minister of Health; Dr. Nguyen Tri Thuc, Deputy Minister of Health; Comrade Le Khac Nam, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee; and representatives of central and local agencies and units and international guests.

Over the past 45 years since its establishment as Hanoi Medical University's Campus 2, then Hai Phong Medical University Branch, Hai Phong Medical University, to Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy today, generations of teachers and students have always promoted the revolutionary tradition, the spirit of learning, overcoming all difficulties, striving to achieve encouraging achievements. From this school, there have been 21,110 doctors, pharmacists, medical bachelors, 28 PhDs, 705 masters, 137 resident doctors, 590 level II specialists, 2358 level I specialists, contributing to the care, protection and improvement of people's health.

Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy is known today as a center for training quality medical human resources, a center for scientific research and technology transfer, providing health care services and developing medicine and pharmacy on islands for the country and internationally, and a destination for young people in the country and the region. The school focuses on innovating programs and teaching and learning methods, methods of assessing students' learning outcomes in the direction of developing capacity, enhancing self-study, self-research and teamwork.

The school has conducted quality assessment of educational institutions and has been recognized as meeting the second cycle quality standards; especially with the efforts to innovate and improve training quality, the school has successfully conducted assessment of 10 training programs and achieved excellent results from 94 - 96/100 points.

In addition, the School has established relationships with 50 international universities and educational organizations, signed cooperation agreements with 26 prestigious universities in the world and implemented training cooperation, lecturer and student exchanges, especially scientific research activities and technology transfer, helping to increase revenue and facilities for the school.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Khai, Principal of Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy, reviewed the 45-year journey of construction and development.

With great achievements and contributions, the School was awarded by the President the Third Class Independence Medal (2014), the First Class Labor Medal (2009), Second Class (2004), Third Class (2000); 26 collectives and 53 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister; 18 collectives and 23 individuals received the Third Class Labor Medal; 03 collectives and 04 individuals received the Second Class Labor Medal; 01 individual received the First Class Labor Medal, 04 individuals were awarded the title of People's Physician, 30 Meritorious Physicians, 05 People's Teachers and 04 Meritorious Teachers. In addition, the School was honored to receive many certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee and many other noble awards from the Party, the State, central ministries and branches and localities.

Speaking at the program, Dr. Nguyen Tri Thuc, Deputy Minister of Health congratulated the teachers and students of Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy for their proud achievements. In the coming time, in order for Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy to continue to develop strongly, the Deputy Minister of Health requested the Party Committee, the University Council, the Board of Directors, the staff and lecturers of the school to continue to unite and promote the inherent strengths of the school, comprehensively innovate the educational work; perfect the training program, strengthen training, supplement and improve the quality of the staff and lecturers to meet the training of students with both talent and virtue, to serve the people better in the coming period, with the increasingly high demands of society.

In addition, promote scientific research and technology transfer, strengthen international cooperation, update and transfer new achievements of world medicine; proactively mobilize resources to build modern facilities and equipment to serve teaching, scientific research and public health care, constantly improve the lives of school staff and civil servants. Continue to pay attention to implementing external assessment and evaluation activities for all training programs and educational institutions, pay attention to promoting international assessment, contributing to affirming the position and reputation of the school at home and abroad.

Dr. Nguyen Tri Thuc, Deputy Minister of Health, awarded Certificates of Merit to groups with outstanding achievements.

On this occasion, the Minister of Health awarded Certificates of Merit to 10 collectives and 48 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the tasks and plans of the Health sector from the 2021-2022 school year to the 2022-2023 school year; awarded the "For People's Health" Medal to 13 individuals with many achievements contributing to the cause of protecting, caring for and improving people's health. The Ministry of Education and Training awarded the "For the Cause of Education" Medal to 12 individuals with many contributions to the cause of education and training.
