Recently, the image of two female students dancing to vibrant music with modern hip-shaking movements appeared at the end-of-year ceremony at a school in Nghe An , causing much controversy online.
Many people think that this dance move is not suitable for a serious and solemn graduation ceremony. However, many people think that “there is no problem”, and even support the students to perform in their youthful style.
It is known that the “modern dance” performance that is being criticized took place after the official program, when the guests had left the stage. The two students “improvised” to dance for their friends to see, and it was not part of the program.

Images of students in offensive costumes appeared at the festival of Ho Thi Bi High School, Ho Chi Minh City (Photo: HN).
This incident did not go too far because the dance of the two female students mentioned above was not offensive, explicit or “shocking”. But in reality, in many schools, there have been many incidents where students “impromptuly” rushed into the schoolyard… to show off their bodies in an offensive manner, pole dancing, leaving the school unable to react.
The most recent is the unimaginably offensive image of a student showing off her body and chest at the student festival of Ho Thi Bi High School, Hoc Mon, Ho Chi Minh City.
This male student dressed up like a comic book with long hair, wearing a dress that exposed his shoulders and chest in an offensive way. When this image was shared on social media, people could not understand nor accept that such a disguise could appear in school, right on the day of the student festival.
However, behind this photo can be said to be an “accident” for the school. Mr. Le Thanh Tong, Principal of Ho Thi Bi High School, said that the character in the offensive costume in this image is a male student of the school.
This is not an activity in the festival program, but this student dressed up and went to the school yard to take pictures with his friends and posted them on social media.
Mr. Le Thanh Tong said that in activities and festivals, the school always prepares carefully and strictly controls the performances and content to ensure they are appropriate. However, there are situations that the school cannot foresee, especially the improvisation of students.
Also in Ho Chi Minh City, not long ago, there was an incident that shocked public opinion when students swayed and pole danced offensively during the opening ceremony.
The incident happened at Le Thi Hong Gam High School, right in front of a large number of students, a young man dressed as a woman in revealing clothes performed a dance, bending and shaking his butt with the main props being a pole and chair.
The main character in the incident is a former student who had just graduated. He was invited to guide students in participating in an art competition and won a prize before.
At that time, this image was shared online, causing a stir and outrage about the unacceptable scene appearing in a school.
According to the school leaders’ explanation, the school itself was… stunned by the incident. This pole dancing did not take place during the opening ceremony but appeared at noon during the festival, after the opening ceremony, the school could not control it.
The school leaders were also heartbroken when the purpose of creating a playground for students on the opening day of school was to create a playground for students, but in just a split second, an offensive incident occurred.

According to Mr. Le Thanh Tong, Principal of Ho Thi Bi High School, after such incidents, it is a lesson for each school to learn from experience about the need to pay attention to and closely control activities and performances in school programs and festivals.
In addition, when an incident occurs, in addition to handling the incident according to the procedure and disciplining students, it is also necessary to have a sympathetic view of them because they are showing off in a moment of passion.
A school leader in Ho Chi Minh City shared that it is also necessary to recognize the fact that schools have few playgrounds and few opportunities for students to demonstrate their abilities other than their studies. Regardless of whether this is right or wrong, children at this age have a lot of energy, personality, creativity and like to assert themselves.
They are prone to unpredictable impulsive moments. They may not yet understand the limits of expression in specific contexts and may not foresee the consequences that come with it.
The consequences not only affect the school but can also affect the students themselves when bad or ugly images are spread online.
This poses a challenge for both families and schools in creating playgrounds and environments, facilitating children to express their interests and abilities in an appropriate and healthy way.
