Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School in Ho Chi Minh City will enroll 350 sixth graders for the 2025-2026 school year, equal to the quota of the previous school year to maintain stability, the Ho Chi Minh City Departmentof Education and Training announced at noon on March 29.

Accordingly, based on the project to reorganize Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted into Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted (HCMC People's Committee has decided to separate the school from May 2024), the department wants to maintain stability for Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School, so the enrollment target for grade 6 this year is the same as last year.

Candidates will take the survey for 90 minutes. The survey time is June 2025, instead of July as usual.

In previous years, the entrance exam for grade 6 at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School usually took place in early July. However, this year, the city's entrance exam is expected to be completed by the end of June (2 months earlier than last year), so the entrance exam for grade 6 at Tran Dai Nghia School will also be held earlier.

Also according to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, this year is the first year that candidates will take the test according to the 2018 general education program. However, the content of the test will remain stable as every year, because the nature of the test over the years has always been organized by Ho Chi Minh City in the direction of assessing students' application ability.

Specifically, the survey includes multiple choice and essay sections. The survey content aims to assess the ability to use English and Vietnamese; mathematics and logical thinking; natural sciences; social sciences: history - geography; and common sense.

The multiple choice section consists of 20 questions in English. Candidates have 30 minutes to complete the test. The content of this section is questions about natural sciences, social sciences, and common sense.

In the essay section, candidates will take 60 minutes to complete the test. This section includes questions to assess candidates’ English proficiency in listening, reading, and writing skills; and questions to test their mathematical and logical thinking abilities.

In particular, the essay test will have questions in Vietnamese and candidates will take the test in Vietnamese. The questions in Vietnamese are intended to test candidates' reading comprehension and writing skills.
