
In his opening speech, the President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union , Mr. Luong Quoc Doan, said that the 34 collectives and 266 individuals honored and rewarded today are typical examples in the emulation movements of the union. The outstanding achievements of cadres, members and farmers nationwide are the best and most meaningful congratulations sent to the Vietnam Farmers' Union on the occasion of its 95th anniversary.

The President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union affirmed that the development of the Vietnam Farmers' Union is always closely linked to each historical period of the country, going through 8 congresses with appropriate goals and tasks for each term.
"The association at all levels has been making efforts to promote the role of farmers as the subject and center in agricultural development, rural economy and new rural construction; arousing the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country," said Mr. Luong Quoc Doan.

Posthumously awarded the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" during the resistance war against the US to the Farmers' Association for the Liberation of Zone V
The Farmers' Association for Liberation of the Central Highlands (abbreviated as the Farmers' Association for Liberation of Zone V) was established on April 21, 1961 in Do Xa War Zone, Nuoc Oa, Tra Tan, Tra My, Quang Nam (now Tra Tan Commune, Da Nang City), with more than 20 cadres representing 13 former provinces and cities (Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Lam Dong, Dak Nong, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Kon Tum).
During the resistance war against the US to save the country (1961 - 1975), the Farmers' Association for Liberation of Zone V played a pivotal role in mobilizing the peasant masses to participate in the revolution, with many outstanding movements. With its outstanding achievements, the Farmers' Association for Liberation of Zone V demonstrated its pioneering and exemplary role in organizing and mobilizing peasants to implement the Party's guidelines and the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam, successfully completing its historical mission before being dissolved in 1975.
With its exceptionally outstanding achievements, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union proposed to posthumously award the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" during the resistance war against the US to the Farmers' Association for Liberation of Zone V - on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the association's founding, and the competent authority decided to posthumously award this noble title.
