Farmers' Association contributes to the country's development

VTV.vn - The Vietnam Farmers' Union will continue to affirm its core role in agricultural development, new rural construction, and improving farmers' lives.

On October 14, the Vietnam Farmers' Union will celebrate its 95th anniversary. Under the leadership of the Party, over the past 95 years, the Vietnam Farmers' Union has accompanied the Vietnamese peasant class, making important contributions to the struggle for national liberation, construction, development and innovation of the country. The celebration is not only an opportunity for each cadre, member and farmer to review the glorious tradition, but also to arouse the will to rise up in the new era.

More than 10 years ago, Ms. Bui Thi Hieu (Director of Vien Son Clean Agricultural Products Production and Consumption Cooperative) started growing clean vegetables on abandoned fields in Vien Son Ward, Hanoi City. In 2023, with a support of 150 million VND and technology transfer from the local Farmers' Association, she was able to produce agricultural products that met VietGAP standards. Up to now, her cooperative has linked with 50 farming households in the area, with annual revenue of up to billions of VND.

Ms. Bui Thi Hieu (Director of Vien Son Clean Agricultural Products Production and Consumption Cooperative) shared: "The cooperative creates stable jobs for farmers with an income of 5 - 15 million/month. In addition, we cooperate with farmers to consume their products at prices higher than the market."

Ms. Hieu is one of millions of Vietnamese farmers who have received support from the Vietnam Farmers' Union to become rich. Looking back over the past 95 years, in all historical periods, the Farmers' Union has always stood side by side, cared for the lives, protected the rights and interests of farmers. Many major movements launched by the Union have become a mark in social life, contributing to the development of agriculture , farmers and rural areas. In particular, the Union has played a good role as a bridge between the Party and farmers.

With the new development context and space, there are requirements for innovation for the Vietnam Farmers' Union to successfully complete assigned tasks.

"We focus on innovating methods of gathering farmer members; promoting more strongly the change in farmers' thinking, especially in the transformation of thinking from conventional agricultural production to agricultural economics; focusing on training farmers to become professional farmers, with more knowledge, skills and understanding in production", said Mr. Luong Quoc Doan (Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Association ).

With the motto "Solidarity - Democracy - Creativity - Cooperation - Development", the Vietnam Farmers' Union will continue to affirm its core role in the cause of agricultural development, new rural construction, improving farmers' lives, contributing to building a prosperous and happy country.
