Posthumous promotion of police lieutenant who died while arresting drugs

According to the Ministry of Public Security's Electronic Information Portal, on November 17, the Minister of Public Security signed a decision to promote the rank from Senior Lieutenant to Captain for comrade Tran Trung Hieu, a police officer of Xuan Hong commune, Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh province, who died while on duty.

Previously, at around 3:45 p.m. on November 13, Senior Lieutenant Tran Trung Hieu, a police officer of Xuan Hong Commune, Nghi Xuan District, Ha Tinh Province, was on duty at Củi Market Temple (Nghi Xuan) when he discovered a subject with suspicious signs of illegal drug trafficking. While approaching the subject for inspection, Comrade Hieu was suddenly attacked by the subject with a weapon, causing serious injuries.

Despite the dedicated efforts of doctors and nurses, and the care of his teammates, family, and loved ones, his injuries were too severe. Senior Lieutenant Tran Trung Hieu died at 6:35 a.m. on November 17.

In response to the heroic sacrifice of Senior Lieutenant Tran Trung Hieu, the Minister of Public Security signed a decision to promote the rank of Senior Lieutenant to Captain for comrade Tran Trung Hieu.
