In recent days, international media have published many articles about the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Vietnam (June 19-20).
The article on The Guardian.com is titled "Russia and Vietnam agree to strengthen relations during Russian President Vladimir Putin's state visit". The article said that during the visit, the two sides signed many cooperation documents in various fields.
The website France24.com also posted similar content with the article "Russian President Vladimir Putin signs cooperation agreements with Vietnam in an effort to promote relations with Asia".
The article said the two sides signed more than 10 cooperation agreements in areas ranging fromeducation to justice and energy. President Putin visited and laid a wreath at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
DW reported that discussions between President Vladimir Putin and senior Vietnamese leaders focused on the fields of economy , education and energy. Vietnam is the third country President Putin has visited since he was sworn in for his fifth term in May 2024.
The South China Morning Post also published an article expressing its impression of the affection that the Vietnamese people have for the Russian leader. According to the newspaper, the good traditional relationship, as well as the warm and friendly image of Russia, has left a good impression on the Vietnamese people, especially when many generations of Vietnamese people have studied and worked in Russia.
The website aljazeera.com reported that Vietnam and Russia have had diplomatic relations since 1950 and this year the two countries celebrate the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the Basic Principles of Friendly Relations between the Russian Federation and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (June 16, 1994 - June 16, 2024).
During his visit to Vietnam, President Putin affirmed that strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam is one of Russia's priorities.
The Washington Post also reported on the Russian President's visit to Vietnam. The article quoted the assessment of Professor Alexander Vuving at the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, an expert on Vietnam's foreign policy, saying that Vietnam is a country in a strategic position in an important region that is increasingly attracting the attention of world powers.
Meanwhile, an article by the US news agency AP said that Vietnam is playing an increasingly important role in the global supply chain. The article also mentioned Vietnam's "Vietnamese bamboo" diplomacy.
According to AP , in less than a year, Vietnam has welcomed leaders of many major countries, including US President Joe Biden, Chinese President Xi Jinping and now Russian President Vladimir Putin. Dr. Nigel Gould-Davies, who specializes in issues related to Russia and the Eurasian region at the International Institute for Strategic Studies and is also a former British Ambassador to Belarus, said he was "quite impressed" by this, showing Vietnam's growing position in the international arena.
