Eggplant farming model in An Thanh commune

The experimental commercial eggplant farming model in Ha Thanh commune has an area of 4,050 m2, in An Thanh commune 1,500 m2. This is the first time Tu Ky has brought eggplants from the river to grow in a natural pond environment.

The model is expected to cost more than 874 million VND in total, of which the district will allocate the budget to support 50% of the cost of purchasing breeds, equipment and essential materials to implement the model.

In January and February 2024, Ha Thanh commune tested raising 85 kg of eggplants on an area of 4,050 m2, expected to be harvested in October-November 2024. In March 2024, An Thanh commune will test raising about 10,000 eggplants.

Eggplant is also known as hairy crab. This is a freshwater crab, the largest one only weighs 200g, with black hair on both sides (or brown, slightly yellow... depending on the season), smooth, silky, usually only found in Thai Binh River, Luoc River. Currently, commercial eggplant in Tu Ky costs from 400 - 600 thousand VND/kg, depending on the type.
