Taking advantage of favorable weather conditions, localities are urging farmers to sow and plant spring rice within the best timeframe. This was the directive of Comrade Lai Van Hoan, Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, during his inspection of agricultural production in Thai Thuy district on the afternoon of February 2nd.

To date, 100% of the spring rice planting area in the province has been irrigated. Approximately 1,500 hectares of rice seedlings have been sown throughout the province, mainly using tray seedlings for machine transplanting and field seedlings. Immediately after the Lunar New Year, farmers in various localities focused on preparing the land and sowing. The entire province has sown over 8,000 hectares of spring rice, with Thai Thuy district alone having sown over 300 hectares.

According to forecasts from the National Center for Hydrometeorology, cold air masses are likely to be active in February, causing severe cold spells and frost, potentially affecting agricultural production, especially newly planted rice.

Comrade Lai Van Hoan, Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, requested the agricultural sector to direct specialized units to guide farmers in caring for newly planted rice fields to ensure good growth and development. He also called for strengthening field inspections, forecasting and replicating models of land consolidation, and attracting businesses and farmers to invest in building and developing value chains from production and processing to consumption of agricultural products. Localities should actively promote mechanization in the planting process, striving to complete planting before February 25th, in accordance with the seasonal schedule.

Machine-planted rice accounts for over 40% of the area.
