Argentina's national team removed Alvarez for not being vaccinated

Alvarez is unavailable for selection this month.

The Argentine Football Federation issued an official statement: "Three Atletico Madrid players were removed from the squad because they did not complete the medical procedures related to the yellow fever vaccine - a necessary condition to be allowed to enter Angolan territory."

Yellow fever is a mosquito-borne disease that can cause mild flu-like symptoms, but in severe cases can lead to jaundice, bleeding, and organ failure. The disease occurs in parts of Africa, South America, and the Caribbean, but is completely preventable with a vaccine.

The three players being excluded due to the vaccine has caused a stir within the team, but coach Scaloni insists this is just a technical problem and does not affect the team's morale. In addition to the above trio, Argentina also does not have the service of Enzo Fernandez due to a knee injury that has not yet recovered.

On the contrary, coach Scaloni welcomed some new faces. Lisandro Martinez returned to the team after a long time of treatment for a cruciate ligament injury, but only trained to regain fitness.
