VHO - Despite being underestimated, the Vietnamese women's U21 volleyball team created a big surprise when defeating Serbia's U21 women's team at the 2025 Women's U21 Volleyball World Cup.

The 2025 Women's U21 Volleyball World Cup takes place from August 7 to 17, with 24 teams divided into 4 groups. The teams will compete in a round robin to score points, selecting the top 4 teams from each group to enter the round of 16.

At the tournament, Vietnam's U21 women's team is in group B with Indonesia, Argentina, Serbia, Puerto Rico and Canada.

After winning the opening match against host Indonesia, the Vietnamese girls entered the second match on the afternoon of August 8 against a strong European team, Serbia's U21 women's team.

Facing a strong opponent with superior physique, the Vietnam U21 women's team was always in a situation of having to chase the score in set 1.

However, at the end of the set, the Vietnamese girls played explosively to win 25-21.

Serbia's U21 women's team immediately responded when they won 35-23 in set 2, bringing the match back to balance.

However, in the remaining two sets, the Vietnamese girls played brilliantly with the brilliance of captain Dang Thi Hong to win 25-22 and 25-23 respectively.

Defeating Serbia's U21 women's team 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23), the Vietnamese women's team had their second consecutive victory at the 2025 U21 Women's Volleyball World Cup.

The third match of the group stage takes place tomorrow, August 9, when the Vietnam U21 women's team will meet the Canada U12 women's team.

Vietnam's U21 women's team has a place at the 2025 U21 Volleyball World Cup thanks to their 5th place finish at the 2024 U20 Asian Volleyball Championship, held in China.

This is also the first time Vietnamese volleyball has had a national team at the youth level win an official spot to participate in the world tournament.
