Snow to fall on Mount Fuji after 130-year record

Việt NamViệt Nam05/11/2024

2024 marks the formation latest snow cover on Mount Fuji since records began 130 years ago. The previous record was set on October 26, 1995, and then again in 2016.

According to the Japan Meteorological Association, from October 31 to November 6, Mount Fuji will have rain due to the cold air, after which the weather will change from rain to snow at the top of Fuji. Residents and tourists can observe snow on the mountain on the morning of November 7.

Weather News also reported on October 30 that “the first snow is likely in November.” Experts say the unusual delay is related to rising temperatures due to global warming.

According to forecasters at the Kofu Meteorological Observatory, this year's high summer temperatures will continue into September. This is one of the reasons for the delay in the first snow on Fuji.

This summer, Japan recorded its highest temperatures on record. The warm weather has prompted some Japanese cities, such as Sapporo on the island of Hokkaido, to begin discussing scaling back the Snow Festival.

Mount Fuji (Fujisan) is the highest mountain in Japan, about 3,776 m high. It is a famous symbol of Japan, and also one of the most photographed mountains in the world , thanks to its symmetrical shape and majestic beauty.

In particular, the mountain top is often covered with white snow from autumn to early summer, providing a beautiful scene. From the top of the mountain, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding provinces and clear blue lakes.
