Airlines actively increase capacity to serve the summer peak season.

According to statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Bamboo Airways is the most punctual airline in the entire aviation industry in June 2024, with an on-time rate of 88.3% and no canceled flights.

In June 2024, the average on-time performance (OTP) of the Vietnamese aviation industry recorded a sharp decline, reaching only 69.3% - down 12.9 percentage points compared to the previous month. Of which, Bamboo Airways is the airline with the highest on-time performance rate, with 88.3% of flights taking off on time in June - up 2.8 percentage points compared to May 2024 and is the only airline with an on-time performance rate increasing compared to the previous month.

The industry-wide flight cancellation rate in June remained the same as in May 2024, at 0.5%. Of which, Bamboo Airways was the only airline that did not cancel any flights.

In early July 2024, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam sent a document to domestic airlines, requesting them to actively work with aircraft leasing partners around the world to search for aircraft, supplement transport forces and study increasing capacity on domestic routes and tourism routes.

In fact, domestic airlines have been making efforts to welcome more aircraft to increase capacity in the context of a sharp decline in domestic ticket supply due to aircraft shortage. In particular, Bamboo Airways no longer owes any aircraft rental fees, and has continuously leased 3 more A320 aircraft since the beginning of the year, aiming to increase its fleet size to 12 aircraft in 2024.

Vietnam Airlines also received another A320 aircraft in early July 2024. Pacific Airlines announced that it would receive another Airbus A321 aircraft leased from Vietnam Airlines for operation.

Based on the fleet added from now until the end of the year, airlines are actively increasing the exploitation of domestic and international routes. Vietnam Airlines is increasing its exploitation on domestic routes such as: Hanoi - Da Lat, Hanoi - Phu Quoc, Ho Chi Minh City - Thanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City - Chu Lai... Pacific Airlines is focusing on operating routes between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, Da Nang, Chu Lai.

Bamboo Airways also plans to increase the frequency of its operating routes from now until the end of the year, reopen some domestic routes such as: Ho Chi Minh City - Da Lat, Ho Chi Minh City - Thanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc... and study the re-exploitation of some regular international routes such as: Ho Chi Minh City - Bangkok (Thailand), to meet people's travel needs.
