Vietnam U.19 Women's Team SEARCHES FOR THE FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP
By winning a ticket to the final of the 2025 Southeast Asian U.19 Women's Championship, the Vietnamese U.19 women's team has participated in the championship match of this tournament for the fourth time. However, in the previous 3 finals, the Vietnamese girls have not been able to enjoy the joy of victory. Of which, the Vietnamese U.19 women's team lost once to the Australian U.17 women's team (in 2022) and twice to the Thai U.19 women's team (in 2014 and 2023).

Once again, fate has brought Vietnam and Thailand to face each other in the final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U.19 Women's Championship. At this time, fans are looking forward to coach Okiyama Masahiko and his team breaking the curse against Thailand, so that the Vietnam U.19 Women's Team can reach the top of the regional arena for the first time. At this time, the Japanese captain is very confident in his players, repeatedly affirming: "The goal remains unchanged, we are capable of winning the championship. The final will be very difficult, but I want the players to have a performance dedicated to the fans. The Vietnam U.19 Women's Team wants to celebrate the championship with the audience at home."
On the journey to the final, the Thai U.19 women's team has gone through 4 matches. The head coach of the Vietnamese U.19 team has enough time to analyze the opponent, thereby preparing for the final match. "In the current Thai U.19 women's team, there are 5-6 names in the attack line who play well and are capable of being promoted to the national team. The coaching staff and players of the Vietnamese U.19 women's team have also practiced and gotten used to the fast playing style of the Thai U.19 women's team", said coach Masahiko.
NEED TO PROMOTE STRENGTHS
Up to now, the U.19 women's team of Vietnam has scored 20 goals after 4 matches, and has not conceded any goals. Coach Masahiko's team has completely dominated their opponents in the previous 4 matches. However, meeting the U.19 women's team of Thailand will be a completely different story, as the defense of the U.19 women's team of Vietnam will face much greater pressure. The attack of the Thai team will be a real test for the defense system of the U.19 women's team of Vietnam. Coach Masahiko said that not conceding a goal is a positive sign, but he is still improving his students' defensive ability every day, especially in the positions of defenders and goalkeepers.
Another bright spot of the U.19 women's team in the three group stage matches and the semi-final match was the ability to exploit set-piece situations. Of the total 20 goals, the Vietnamese girls scored many times with super free kicks, throw-ins, and corner kicks. This needs to be continued by the U.19 women's players when facing Thailand, which could create a turning point in the final match. "I always tell the players about the importance of set-piece situations. The players have practiced a lot, especially the ability to shoot free kicks. The goals from the free kick spot recently also gave the U.19 women's players more confidence, helping them continue to shine," coach Masahiko revealed.
In addition, the U.19 women's team of Vietnam has shown the ability to change state and organize quick and sharp counterattacks. The Japanese captain certainly knows how to promote the agility of Luu Hoang Van, Ngan Thi Thanh Hieu... to create breakthroughs in the attacks of the U.19 women's team of Vietnam. However, compared to previous matches, finding a way to the goal of the U.19 women of Thailand is predicted to be much more difficult for the U.19 women of Vietnam. The head coach of the U.19 women of Thailand - Ms. Nuengrutai Srathongvian said: "We have analyzed and will have a reasonable strategy for the final match. The attack line of the Vietnamese team has 2 outstanding faces, number 9 (Luu Hoang Van) and number 19 (Ngan Thi Thanh Hieu). We will have a plan to deal with it".
The third-place match between the Indonesian U.19 women's team and the Myanmar U.19 women's team will take place at 3 p.m. today, also at Thong Nhat Stadium.
