Innovation in coaching methods helps promising young players showcase their talents, increase their confidence, gain experience and improve their expertise.
With the opportunity to train with the national team, the young players of U22 Vietnam soon approached the football philosophy as well as became familiar with the specialized training program. From this environment, two young talents Pham Ly Duc and Nguyen Quoc Viet had the opportunity to join the Vietnam national team, participating in the second match of Group F of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup - facing host Malaysia on June 10.
Center back Ly Duc and striker Quoc Viet were promoted to the national team by coach Kim Sang-sik because their seniors were injured and could not recover in time. However, these two players from the U22 Vietnam team are experienced players in the V-League, and have shown their competitive spirit and professional ability in recent times.

Pham Ly Duc is always the first choice in the Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club squad thanks to his ideal physique (1.83 m tall) and comprehensive offensive and defensive abilities. Ly Duc is considered a central defender with the ability to judge situations quickly, strong in rushing, 1-on-1 disputes and "air combat" advantage. Compared to his seniors, Ly Duc lacks playing experience but always completes his tasks well, playing completely throughout the match.
Quoc Viet is also a successful product of the Hoang Anh Gia Lai training "furnace", and has been highly appreciated by coach Kiatisuk for his professional ability. The striker born in 2003 is nicknamed "King of Youth Tournaments" when he continuously won the "Top Scorer" award in the playground for players from U13 to U21 national teams. Before coming to Ninh Binh Club in the 2024-2025 season, Quoc Viet had more than 40 matches for Hoang Anh Gia Lai in the V-League. On the journey to bring the Hoa Lu Ancient Capital team to win a ticket to the V-League 2025-2026, Quoc Viet contributed 5 goals after 18 matches in the 2024-2025 First Division, entering the top 5 list of the best strikers in this playground.
Besides Ly Duc, Quoc Viet and other U22 players currently playing for the Vietnam national team, the Vietnamese-American duo Viktor Le and Bui Alex also left an impression during this gathering of the Vietnam U22 team.
Closing the journey of "eating the national team's rice" for the first time, 19-year-old striker Bui Alex shared: "The players in Vietnam are really good. I feel excited to practice, play football and face them on the field. The first time playing for U22 Vietnam is a memorable experience that I will definitely never forget. Hai Long, Quang Hai and Nguyen Filip are the names on the Vietnamese team that left a big impression on me. I understand that I have to try harder in the future and believe that I will play better if I have more opportunities to compete."
