According to VFF, after more than 2 hours of traveling by bus from Bangkok, this afternoon, August 16, U23 Vietnam arrived at the coastal city of Rayong, located 168 km from Bangkok. This is the venue for the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Football Championship.

In Rayong, coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team were arranged by the Organizing Committee to stay at the 4-star Star Convention Hotel, which is located quite close to the training ground and the competition ground. Except for the host U23 Thailand, this is also the accommodation of the participating teams.
According to the plan, the team will start their first training session in Rayong this afternoon. However, because the players have just played a friendly match with U23 Bahrain, coach Hoang Anh Tuan decided to adjust the off-field training activities to gym activities and then recover at the hotel swimming pool. The good news is that no player of U23 Vietnam is injured or has health problems.
Coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team have 3 days to prepare for the opening match against U23 Laos. Tomorrow morning, August 17, representatives of the coaching staff will attend a technical meeting organized by AFF. Head coach Hoang Anh Tuan and a player will attend a press conference before the group stage.
At the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 tournament, U23 Vietnam is in Group C with U23 Laos and U23 Philippines. The U23 Vietnam squad participating in the tournament is a collection of core players, mostly U20, combined with a number of U23 players. This will also be the Vietnam Olympic team participating in the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou (China) next September.
