Ten Hag has a new home.

Coach Erik ten Hag will lead Bayer Leverkusen, replacing Xabi Alonso, next season.

Ten Hag will become the head coach of Leverkusen for the 2024/25 season.

According to The Athletic , the Dutch strategist will officially become the new head coach of Bayer Leverkusen from the 2025/26 season. The agreement between the two parties has been finalized with a two-year contract.

This is a swift and decisive move by Leverkusen after confirming their departure from Xabi Alonso. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano added: "Ten Hag prioritized choosing Leverkusen over returning to Ajax, the team that helped him make a name for himself in Europe."

The Dutch strategist has been unemployed since last October, after being sacked by MU amidst the team's drop to 14th place in the Premier League after just 9 rounds. Despite having led MU to a top 3 finish and winning two trophies, the Carabao Cup (2022/23) and the FA Cup (2023/24), he was still forced to leave the manager's position after a disappointing start to the season.

Before arriving at Old Trafford, Ten Hag had an impressive four and a half years at Ajax, leading the team to the semi-finals of the 2018/19 Champions League with resounding victories against Real Madrid and Juventus. He also spent time in Germany, managing the Bayern Munich youth team from 2013-2015, a period when Pep Guardiola was in charge of the first team.

As for Leverkusen, after a miraculous 2023/24 season with a Bundesliga and German Cup double, the team faltered in the current season, finishing second and without any trophies. Coach Xabi Alonso will replace Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.

With the impending appointment of Erik ten Hag, Leverkusen hopes to maintain its momentum and remain a major force in the Bundesliga and European competitions in the coming seasons.
