VHO - Recently, at the Headquarters of the Vietnamese Delegation to UNESCO in Paris, Ambassador, Head of the Vietnamese Permanent Delegation to UNESCO Nguyen Thi Van Anh had a working session with the delegation of the Vietnam Institute of Culture, Arts, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Ninh province on the nomination dossier of "Dong Ho folk painting craft" as an intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent protection, which will be considered by UNESCO in December 2025.
At the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Van Anh highlighted the role and efforts of the Institute of Culture, Arts, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Ninh province in the process of building the Dossier.
The Ambassador expressed his joy and commented that the dossier was built methodically and seriously, reflecting a high sense of responsibility in the work of preserving an intangible cultural heritage that is facing the risk of being lost.
The Ambassador affirmed that the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to UNESCO attaches great importance to this nomination dossier and the Delegation has been the focal point, together with the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province and the National Commission for UNESCO, in implementing many promotional and advocacy activities for the dossier.
In particular, the event "Bac Ninh - Kinh Bac Cultural Night" will be held on May 31, 2024 at the Vietnam Cultural Center in France and the event "Vietnam: Cultural quintessence and aspirations to rise" will be held on April 7, 2025 at UNESCO Headquarters.
Through the above cultural events, the delegates and international friends were very moved to have a better understanding of Bac Ninh - Kinh Bac, a land of outstanding people, with unique cultural traditions typical of the Vietnamese people.
These events have left many good impressions on international friends, contributing to attracting the international community's attention to this unique cultural heritage of Vietnam.
On the side of the working delegation, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Lan Oanh, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Institute of Culture, Arts, Sports and Tourism (the consulting unit for the Dossier) and Mr. Nguyen Van Dap, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Ninh province, provided more information about the process of preparing the nomination dossier for "Dong Ho folk painting craft".
At the same time, he said that the delegation's working trip aimed to research, learn international experience and exchange expertise in the field of intangible cultural heritage conservation, contributing to promoting the process of inscribing the dossier on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.
The working group affirmed that it will continue to closely coordinate with the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to UNESCO from now until December 2025 when UNESCO considers this important nomination dossier.
