Recently, succulents have become a popular choice for many people to grow and care for in their home gardens due to their numerous advantages, especially the relaxing and enjoyable feeling they bring to those who cultivate them. Recognizing the economic value of succulents, many people not only grow them for pleasure but also have ideas to design succulent plants into attractive business models.

After visiting succulent nurseries in Da Lat, Ms. Tran Thi Mai bought seedlings and dedicated 1,000 square meters of land to planting them. Naming her garden "Fat Cat Succulents" in Thach That 2 village, for over three years now, she has become known to locals and visitors alike as a wholesaler and retailer of thousands of succulent plants in various types, from common to special, diverse in species, colors, and shapes, all neatly arranged. To ensure healthy growth and minimize disease, she invested in a greenhouse system to maximize sunlight exposure. For some special varieties, she grows and cares for them in glass enclosures.

According to Ms. Mai, there's a difference between liking succulents and actually growing and caring for them, as each species has different characteristics. "Succulents prefer sunlight, so I utilize the empty space in my family's garden to build succulent trellises in a greenhouse. Caring for succulents is quite simple; you just need to ensure the plants get enough light. Any plants showing signs of disease should be removed immediately to prevent the disease from spreading to other plants," Ms. Mai shared her experience.

Admirers of Ms. Mai's succulent garden, with many plants already resembling ancient trees, couldn't help but express their admiration and ask her to share her experience. Ms. Mai humbly confided: "I haven't been involved with succulents for very long. Initially, I cared for them little by little. After understanding the plant's characteristics and consulting with members of succulent growing groups on YouTube and social media, I started growing a few more each day. I became completely engrossed in succulents, and even now, I'm still 'addicted' to caring for them and watching them grow."

Besides supplying succulents wholesale and retail to several nearby nurseries, Ms. Mai's succulent garden has also become a unique new check-in spot for locals. Ms. Doan Hong Mai, a local customer, said that because she runs a potted plant business, she always has to go to Da Lat to import goods or find suppliers. However, for the past three years or so, after learning about a local succulent garden specializing in wholesale, she has been coming here. "Compared to succulents in Da Lat, the succulents here have more diverse colors and varieties. Because of the sunny weather in the countryside, the colors of the succulents are much more vibrant and look fresher. Besides, the prices here are also reasonable," Ms. Mai said.

Along with some friends, young Ha Anh checked in at the succulent garden and said: “Through recommendations from some friends near Ms. Mai's garden, we came to admire and buy succulents as birthday gifts for a friend. In the countryside, I haven't seen any succulent gardens like this before. This is the first garden we've known about and visited. The garden has many varieties, displayed by Ms. Mai in pots with very eye-catching shapes.”

According to the assessment of the People's Committee of Tan Ha commune, Lam Ha district, succulents are plants whose leaves serve as stems, possessing a unique beauty due to the diversity in leaf shape and color, and the abundance of species, always attracting enthusiasts to explore and collect them. Ms. Mai's succulent model has become an interesting destination for local people. This is also one of the new and quite good models for the people here. The locality encourages people to learn about new economic models and be bold in developing the family economy.
