Recently, many people have chosen to plant and care for succulents in their home gardens because of their many advantages, especially this type of plant brings a sense of relaxation and excitement to the grower. Realizing the economic value of succulents, many people not only grow them to satisfy their passion, but also have the idea of designing succulents into attractive business models.
After visiting the succulent model in Da Lat, Ms. Tran Thi Mai bought seeds and set aside 1,000 m2 of land to grow them. Naming the garden Fat Cat Succulent in Thach That 2 village, for more than 3 years now, she has been known by locals and outsiders as a wholesale and retail supplier of thousands of succulent pots with all kinds from normal to special, diverse in species, colors, shapes and neatly arranged. In order for the plants to grow well and be less susceptible to disease, she invested in a net house system to facilitate sunlight. For some special plants, she grows and cares for them in glass cages.
According to Ms. Mai, there is a gap between loving and growing and caring for succulents because each species has different characteristics. "Succulents love the sun, so I take advantage of my family's vacant land to build succulent trellises in a greenhouse. Succulent care is quite simple, just ensure light for the plants. For plants showing signs of disease, remove them immediately to avoid spreading to other pots," Ms. Mai shares her experience.
Looking at Mai's succulent garden with many trees that have grown into ancient trees, those who love this type of plant cannot help but exclaim, asking her to share her experience. Mai modestly confided: "I have not been into succulents for long. At first, I took care of them little by little. After understanding the characteristics of the plant, and then referring to the experiences of members of the succulent growing group on youtube and social networking sites, I planted a little more every day. When I was growing succulents, I was very passionate about it, and until now, I am still "addicted" to taking care of and watching each plant grow."
In addition to providing wholesale and retail varieties to some neighboring gardens, Ms. Mai's succulent garden has also become a new check-in spot for local people. Ms. Doan Hong Mai - a local customer said that because she sells ornamental plant pots, every time she imports goods or looks for a source of goods, she has to go to Da Lat. However, in the past 3 years, after knowing that the locality has a wholesale succulent garden, she came here. "Compared to succulents in Da Lat, the succulents here have more diverse colors and types. Because in the countryside with sunny weather, the colors of succulents will also be more colorful and look much fresher. Besides, the prices here are also reasonable," said Ms. Tomorrow.
Along with some friends checking in at the stone lotus garden, young Ha Anh said: "Through the introduction of some friends near Ms. Mai's garden, we stopped by to admire and buy stone lotus as a birthday gift for a friend. In the countryside, I have never seen a stone lotus model. This is the first garden we have known and visited. There are many types of stone lotus here, displayed by Ms. Mai in pots with very eye-catching shapes."
According to the assessment of Tan Ha Lam Ha Commune People's Committee, succulents are plants that use leaves as stems with a very unique beauty due to the diversity of shapes, colors of leaves, and rich species that always make enthusiasts want to explore and collect. Ms. Mai's succulent model has become an interesting destination for local people. This is also one of the new and quite good models for the people here. The locality encourages people to learn new economic models and be bold in developing the family economy.
