Local officials in Russia said a fire broke out overnight at an oil export refinery in the town of Tuapse in the Krasnodar Krai region, but the blaze had been extinguished. "According to preliminary information, there are no casualties," said Sergei Boiko, head of Tuapse.

Ukrainian sources confirmed that the country's SBU security service attacked the oil refinery with drones and will continue to attack Russian fuel supply facilities in the nearly two-year conflict between the two countries.
“The SBU is striking deep into the Russian Federation and continues to attack facilities that are not only important for the Russian economy but also provide fuel” for its troops fighting in Ukraine, a Ukrainian source told Reuters.
This was at least the fourth attack on major Russian energy infrastructure targets in the past week, including an attack on the Ust-Luga oil and gas processing and export port in the Leningrad region.
The Rosneft plant that was attacked has an annual capacity of 12 million tons. The company produces naphtha, fuel oil and diesel, mainly supplying Türkiye, China, Malaysia and Singapore. In 2023, the plant processed 9.378 million tons of crude oil, producing 3.306 million tons of diesel and 3.123 million tons of fuel oil.
Attacks and conflicts around the globe have added to concerns about the world ’s energy supplies. Oil prices rose on Thursday following a new attack by Houthi forces on ships off the coast of Yemen.
