In Vietnam, since 2020, many schools and Departmentsof Education and Training have considered chess as a subject that develops capacity, trains analytical-critical skills, strategic thinking-planning, patience, creativity, self-control...
The First AI Platform for School Chess
In the digital age, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to support the training of intellectual sports such as chess is considered inevitable. If the training of international chess masters has previously been concentrated in a few large centers in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, now with the support of AI, every locality has the opportunity to discover, nurture and develop young talents in this intellectual sport.
International Grandmaster Le Thanh Tu, Head of the Chess Family Club, shared: “Chess clubs are in great need of technological solutions for online teaching and learning. Children who are passionate about chess will have more opportunities to connect and learn with suitable teachers and coaches as well as access regular competition spaces to improve their abilities and conquer high-quality tournaments. Meanwhile, parents can also get acquainted with chess or accompany their children through new experiences.”

Sharing the same view, International Grandmaster Bui Vinh, head coach of the National Chess Team, commented: "From the experience of major countries, learning to play and striving to become an international grandmaster is a long and arduous journey. Vietnamese chess talents are present in many private clubs and schools, but to be able to develop, they need dedication, responsibility and investors to join hands to share."

Responding to the above requirements, on June 28, the ChessGPT application was officially launched with the expectation of becoming an intellectual product crystallized between technology experts, leading chess coaches and dedicated educators, aiming to nurture young international grandmasters of Vietnam.
Unlike conventional chess software, ChessGPT not only suggests the strongest moves but also analyzes tactics according to the age, grade level, and skill level of the player. Notably, this AI platform can suggest moves, explain tactics, analyze games in real time, personalize training plans, support teachers in managing students' learning progress, and connect to the digital lecture and training library of F5Academy (a member of the F5 Alliance).

Aim to standardize 23,000 chess clubs
Commenting on Chess GPT, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Ngoc, National Grandmaster, Head of the Future Grandmasters Club said: "The support of ChessGPT with an international standard competition and training system will help schools to be completely proactive in developing the club model with the motto: Teachers on site, students on site, space on site and tools in hand. Chess experts are ready to join in with advanced technology solutions in connecting and sharing knowledge widely and in depth".
Meanwhile, International Grandmaster Nguyen Thien Ngan, World Youth Chess Champion U14, shared his personal story: “There will be many young people who will not have to struggle like Ngan, who had to take a bus from Thai Nguyen to Hanoi to find a chess teacher. ChessGPT will effectively support both online practice and competition. Young people will have the opportunity to learn directly from the country's international Grandmasters."

According to Director of DUCA Science and Technology Enterprise, Coordinator of the School Chess Development Program for the period 2021-2030 Nguyen Huy Du, in the period 2025-2027, F5Academy and DUCA will invest comprehensively in 26 TOTA (Vietnam Chess Academy) standard chess clubs in 13 provinces/cities and accompany 2,600 school chess clubs nationwide.

According to Mr. Huy Du, in the next phase (2028-2030), the system will continue to expand to serve the standardization of 23,000 clubs, becoming a strategic platform to promote more specialized and sustainable school chess activities.
