According to the report of the National Traffic Safety Committee, in the first quarter of 2024, the socio -economy continued to grow, the demand for travel increased, and there were many peak periods of traffic safety and order (TTATGT). However, with the drastic direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, and the active participation of ministries, branches, and localities, the traffic safety and order situation in the first quarter of 2024 was basically guaranteed. The number of deaths from traffic accidents (TNGT) continued to be contained and decreased compared to the same period in 2023, down 484 deaths (-15.1%). Some localities still had a number of particularly serious traffic accidents, killing and injuring many people, causing outrage in public opinion. Violations of road and railway traffic safety corridors have not been handled promptly. The situation of gathering, driving in groups, and signs of illegal racing still occurs in some provinces and cities. There are still cases of trucks not strictly following regulations on loading goods onto vehicles, causing goods to fall onto the road, causing traffic safety problems. Traffic congestion continues on major highways and national highways, especially at the gateways to and from major cities.
In Quang Tri province, in the first quarter of 2024, there were 57 cases in the province, killing 27 people and injuring 47 people. Compared to the same period in 2023, there was an increase of 2 cases (3.6%); an increase of 6 deaths (28.6%); the number of injured people did not increase or decrease. The Traffic Police force conducted 3,647 patrols and controls, detecting 6,688 violations, including 2,802 cases of cars; 3,870 cases of motorbikes; 16 cases of electric bicycles.
