Important changes in referee training methods
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the program, Mr. Nguyen Van Phu, General Secretary of VFF, Head of the training course's Organizing Committee, emphasized the key role of refereeing in the overall development and success of professional football: "Through this training program, supervisors and referees need to continue to improve their knowledge, improve their situational handling skills and strengthen their professional qualities. This will be an important asset for the entire force to successfully complete their tasks in the 2025-2026 season. VFF, the VFF Referee Board and VPF always accompany and support Vietnamese referees to become increasingly professional, impartial and steadfast on the field."

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hoi , Standing Member of the VFF Executive Committee, expressed his hope that all supervisors and referees participating in the training will be highly focused, actively learn, practice physical strength and expertise, and be ready to meet the increasingly high demands of modern football.
Notably, according to Mr. Dang Thanh Ha, Head of the VFF Referee Board, this year's training program has been adjusted in terms of organization. Instead of being divided into two sessions according to the North and South regions as in previous years, the first training session focuses on referees and supervisors assigned to work in the V-League and VAR refereeing, in the context that VAR technology will continue to be expanded in the new season. The second training session will be for the force participating in the first division and the National Cup.
Gratitude to referees and assistant referees
Within the framework of the opening ceremony, VFF and VPF held a ceremony to pay tribute and bid farewell to 5 referees and assistant referees who retired from duty according to FIFA's age regulations, including national first division referee Nguyen Manh Hai, V-League assistant referees Truong Duc Chien, Hoang Thanh Binh, Ngo Quoc Toan and Tran Van Hai. Of which, assistants Truong Duc Chien and Tran Van Hai will continue to serve until the end of the 2025-2026 season. VFF and VPF leaders acknowledged the important contributions of these referees to the development of Vietnamese football, and hoped that they would continue to accompany them in new roles in the future.

The 2025-2026 season referee and supervisor training program will take place from August 2 to August 7. The training content focuses on updating the competition rules, new FIFA guidelines, analyzing professional situations, coordinating referee teams and operating VAR... to improve the awareness, skills and decision-making ability of referees in the modern football environment.
Tomorrow morning (August 3), the referees will undergo a physical test, a mandatory condition to be assigned to work in the new season.
When the PVF-CAND team agreed to participate in the tournament in writing on the afternoon of August 2, it meant that there was a team to replace Quang Nam Club (resigned). The V-League still had 14 teams, and the number of referees was not reduced.
