Van Canh prepares for defense zone drill: Active, urgent, determined to achieve the best results

At the end of April 2023, Van Canh district will organize a defense zone exercise. The district is actively implementing preparations for the exercise, ensuring the motto of "practicality, confidentiality, safety, and effectiveness".

The 2023 Van Canh District Defense Area Exercise (KVPT) will be conducted on a one-sided, one-level scale on the map and in the field with a live-fire part. The content is divided into 3 phases, including: Moving the armed forces into combat readiness states, moving localities into defense states; organizing preparations for defensive operations; practicing defensive operations.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Ha Minh Chien, Commander of the Military Command of Van Canh district, the exercise aims to contribute to improving the leadership, direction and management capacity of Party committees, authorities and the staff work, organization and implementation of sectors, levels and forces in resolving defense and security situations occurring in Van Canh district.

“Therefore, we determined that the drill must be organized realistically to test the ability to respond to possible situations. In the spirit of “acting for real”, the preparations for the drill were focused on by agencies and units in the district with the highest determination,” said Lieutenant Colonel Chien.

As a standing agency, over the past 3 months, the Military Command of Van Canh district has done a good job of advising the District Party Committee and the District People's Committee on deploying the exercise tasks and establishing the Organizing Committee, support teams, and exercise framework; propagating and mobilizing people to understand the purpose and significance of the exercise. Thereby, creating high unity in awareness and responsibility of Party committees, authorities at all levels, the armed forces and people for the exercise task of KVPT; organizing leadership, direction, and implementation of exercise preparation work according to plan, ensuring quality and effectiveness.

In particular, after the Provincial Drill Steering Committee organized specific training on the contents of the KVPT drill for the district's drill framework, the District Drill Organizing Committee also urgently developed a plan and organized additional training for the forces participating in the drill according to each specialized field and assigned position and responsibility.

Lieutenant Colonel Vo Quang Khanh - Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of the Military Command of Van Canh district, said: During the past month, officers and soldiers of the unit have been working on their days off and during their breaks to prepare for the exercise. In particular, the unit has focused on building a system of documents and plans in combat readiness and defense status that are close to the requirements, functions and tasks of each department, branch, and organization and suitable for each exercise role. Up to now, the system of documents and plans of the blocks has been completed, reaching about 70%.

Van Canh town is the locality chosen to build a simulated combat base in the Van Canh district KVPT exercise in 2023. In early April, regardless of the hot weather, dozens of officers, soldiers, and militiamen raced against time to complete the final stages of the system of trenches, fortifications, and battlefields in preparation for the exercise.

Having directly implemented, monitored and directed at the construction site, Major Pham Tan Sang, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Military Command of Van Canh district, said: "With the highest sense of responsibility, in the past 3 months, the forces have constructed about 80% of the system of trenches and fortifications serving the exercise."

For the live-fire drills, the District Military Command is also actively organizing training for the reserve forces and militia. Immediately after the Tay Son District KVPT exercise ends, this force will move to the training ground of the National Military Training Center 2 (Tay Son District) to continue training close to the actual combat terrain.

Mr. Luong Dinh Tien - Chairman of Van Canh District People's Committee, Head of the District KVPT Exercise Organizing Committee, said: With the spirit of urgency, positivity, determination, and high responsibility of the entire political system, up to this point, the preparation work for the Van Canh District KVPT exercise is taking place as planned. In the coming days, the District Exercise Organizing Committee will review and inspect all stages and contents to ensure the exercise is conducted according to the requirements of the Provincial Exercise Steering Committee. Thereby, contributing to improving the level and role of the exercise framework in the preparation, organization of practice and practice to achieve the highest results.
