Leaders of Van Chan district discussed about OCOP products of Suoi Giang tea.

Over the years, Van Chan has formed many concentrated agricultural production areas, including more than 950 hectares of tea, of which 500 hectares are Shan Tuyet tea; 380 hectares of rice; 375 hectares of fruit trees... Many products have been recognized as OCOP, have a place in the market, especially Suoi Giang Shan Tuyet tea has created a brand for domestic and foreign customers.

Van Chan has many accommodation areas that attract a large number of tourists .

On that basis, the locality orients agricultural development towards organic and sustainable development, building a closed value chain from production to processing and consumption. By 2030, the commune aims to have over 34 OCOP products meeting 3-star standards or higher, including at least 1 5-star product from Shan Tuyet tea. This will also be an important foundation to link agriculture with agro-tourism and experiential tourism.

We do not only want to sell agricultural products, but also want to sell experiences, sell cultural stories and ecological environment. Visitors to Van Chan not only enjoy Shan Tuyet tea and apple wine, but also witness the organic production process and learn about the traditional beauty of the local people's labor.

Mr. Tran Huu Luc - Chairman of Van Chan Commune People's Committee

Along with product development, Van Chan prioritizes building typical agricultural product brands such as Quoc Co oil, Shan tea, Hong Son oranges, hawthorns, etc. At the same time, the commune expands the model of traditional agricultural and food product trading points "5 thousand", aiming to turn this place into a tourist stop.

In addition, Van Chan pays special attention to developing tourism infrastructure, and at the same time requests the province to support investment in inter-regional traffic routes, connecting directly with key tourist destinations such as Suoi Khoang, Ban Moi, Tang Chan, Trung Tam, Son Luong, etc. By 2030, the roads leading to tourist destinations will be widened to at least 7.5m; a bridge over Nhi stream will also be built to ensure smooth traffic, avoiding isolation when natural disasters occur.

Along with that, digital infrastructure is also heavily invested. Van Chan plans to cover the entire commune with 4G/5G, install free wifi at all tourist spots, turn the Central Market and Dong Khe Market into 4.0 markets; cooperatives and households producing agricultural products will be supported to attach QR codes, trace origins, and promote on e-commerce platforms.

At the same time, the cultural identity of the Tay, Thai, Mong, Muong, Dao ethnic groups in Van Chan is considered a valuable resource for tourism development. Festivals such as Shan Tuyet tea festival, Gau Tao festival, Loong Tong festival, Com festival, Xat Then festival, Mong panpipe art, Thai xoe dance, Tay Then singing... will continue to be maintained and promoted in association with tourism.

Mr. Vang A Ha - Head of Pang Cang village excitedly said: "Previously, people only relied on tea and rice plants, with unstable income. Now, the orientation of developing community tourism has opened up new opportunities. People can do homestays, open experience services, and sell traditional handicrafts. People not only have more livelihoods but also feel proud when introducing their ethnic culture to tourists."

Thanks to this approach, Van Chan aims to have about 20% of the working-age population participating directly or indirectly in the tourism industry by 2030, contributing to raising the average income per capita to over 50 million VND/year.

Before merging into Van Chan commune, the four communes and the old town had achieved many positive results: forming 22 OCOP products, maintaining 250 hectares of tea meeting VietGAP and organic standards; attracting many tourism projects such as Suoi Khoang Resort, Suoi Giang Tea Cultural Space, Suoi Giang Vietnamese Village... In 2025, the whole commune is expected to welcome 120,000 visitors, with tourism revenue reaching 105 billion VND - double that of 2020.

Those achievements are an important premise for Van Chan to enter a new phase. Mr. Tran Huu Luc emphasized: The Party Committee and the People of Van Chan are determined to successfully implement the goals set by the Congress, turning potential into advantages, turning aspirations into reality, building Van Chan into a bright spot in developing green tourism, organic agriculture and preserving indigenous culture.
