Inspiring innovation and creativity in students
DNO - In the context of development, education focuses on innovation and creativity, going beyond the framework of simply imparting knowledge. Many models implemented in schools have not only created a playground for students to conduct scientific research and start a business, but also helped them to soon shape a career that suits their expertise and passion.
Nurture your passion for creativity
Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted has strongly launched the scientific and technological research movement right from the beginning of the school year. The school encourages students to choose their own topics, then assigns teachers in charge to guide and evaluate the scientific content. This approach emphasizes the proactive role of students, considering them as the center of creativity, while teachers play the role of inspiration and guidance.
In order to spread innovation, the school organizes "Citizenship Week", introducing the creative community and international scientific data sources such as ISEF (USA). Many academic clubs such as Young Creativity, NBK Fuel, together with alumni, have become places to gather and resonate research passion.
Pham An Nhien (Physics class), co-founder of the project "Eco Straw - Bio-Packaging" and winner of the Encouragement Prize in the Quang Nam Startup Talent Search Competition 2025, said: "Thanks to the guidance of teachers, I not only upgraded my research project but also practiced teamwork, presentation, and self-discovery skills. This is a valuable asset for the future."

In 2021, after merging 6 colleges and intermediate schools, Quang Nam College quickly implemented projects 844, 1665 and many provincial-level startup policies. Thereby, innovation became a key task of the school.
Every year, innovation and entrepreneurship are integrated into the training plan. Each year, specialized lecturers research highly practical topics and guide students in implementing projects.
Notably, the school has established a financial support mechanism that is motivating: after being approved by the Review Council, research groups (including lecturers and students) receive funding from the beginning to realize their ideas. This mechanism encourages students to boldly research and test new ideas, even when their feasibility is unclear.
Thanks to that, many projects that seemed to just stop at the idea level have been realized into specific products, ready to be introduced at competitions, startup festivals or commercialized.
Career orientation
Over the past 5 years, Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted has made a strong impression in science and technology competitions and innovative startups, according to Mr. Phan Van Linh, Vice Principal of the school.

The school has continuously participated in national competitions, winning 1 first prize, 1 second prize and 2 third prizes. Many creative projects of students have also won prizes at provincial and regional levels, and are highly appreciated for their practical application.
The school is also a leader in encouraging students to form ideas and develop research projects, contributing to creating a sustainable innovation movement in secondary schools.
“Many parents worry that scientific research can distract students from their studies, but the reality is quite the opposite. When participating, students not only have a clear career orientation, focus on their strengths, improve their soft skills, but also have the motivation to complete cultural knowledge standards well and achieve high academic results.”
Mr. Phan Van Linh, Vice Principal of Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted
Quang Nam College has clearly defined the innovative startup ecosystem model over the years. This model has supported more than 30 student projects, with many excellent projects winning high prizes at the "Search for Quang Nam Startup Talent" contest and the National Innovative Startup Competition.
With its outstanding contributions, the school was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Training for its outstanding achievements in entrepreneurship and innovation. The People's Committee of Quang Nam (old) also awarded a Certificate of Merit in recognition of its contributions to the local entrepreneurship movement. The National Entrepreneurship Association commended its outstanding achievements in promoting entrepreneurship in the vocational education environment.
Over the past years, Quang Nam College has mobilized nearly 1 billion VND from socialization to support projects. Many student products have won provincial and national awards, affirming its position as a bright spot in the city's vocational education system.
Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Thi Phuong Anh, Principal of Quang Nam College, emphasized that the unit possesses many outstanding strengths: multidisciplinary training, qualified teaching staff and adequate facilities.
With its location in the South of the city and large development potential, the school is suitable for developing high-tech agriculture, producing products to serve life with low cost and high efficiency.
In the coming time, the school will establish research groups in association with businesses, inviting experts to participate extensively in each topic to ensure feasibility and meet social requirements.
“We identify innovation as a key factor in students’ career orientation. This activity helps students develop an entrepreneurial mindset while studying, thereby confidently entering the job market with a solid foundation of skills and professional qualities upon graduation.”
Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Thi Phuong Anh
