Over the past few days, there has been prolonged heavy rainfall in the Cua Dat reservoir basin. As of 8:00 AM on September 22nd, the reservoir's water level was at +108.48m, and the inflow into Cua Dat reservoir was over 1,150 m³ /s.

The Cua Dat reservoir spillway is being prepared for flood control operations.
To ensure the safety of the structure and the downstream area, the Management Board for Investment and Construction of Irrigation Works No. 3 (Board 3) announces the planned schedule for flood control water release from the Cua Dat reservoir. This will begin at 3 PM on September 22, 2024, and continue until the completion of the reservoir control operation. Specifically, water will be released through the Cua Dat hydropower plant at 150 m³ /s; through the Doc Cay hydropower plant at 21 m³ /s; and through the spillway at 200 m³ /s, for a total downstream discharge of 371 m³ /s.
Depending on the rainfall and flood situation, Management Unit 3 will adjust the discharge flow to regulate and maintain the reservoir water level so that it does not exceed the +110m elevation.
To ensure the absolute safety of the structure, lives, and property of the state and people in the downstream area of Cua Dat Lake, Committee 3 hereby informs the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Thanh Hoa province, the People's Committees of the downstream districts, and relevant units.
