Ho Chi Minh City:
TPO - The project to expand 2.5km of Luong Dinh Cua road in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, was started in 2015 but has not yet been completed.
The Luong Dinh Cua road upgrade project (located in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) is a main artery connecting to the An Phu intersection project. Nearly 2.5 km long, it was started in 2015 with a total investment of over 800 billion VND and was expected to be completed in two years. However, after nine years, the project is still not finished. |
According to Tien Phong newspaper, many sections of Luong Dinh Cua street are still barricaded for construction. |
The road, which was widened, is only 2.5km long, but about 10 construction sites have sprung up along it, creating bottlenecks. |
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Transport Project Management Board (the investor), the reason for the project's delay is due to obstacles in land clearance. |
The section from the An Phu intersection to Nguyen Hoang Street is currently facing an issue with approximately 22,000 square meters of land overlapping with the An Phu Urban Development Area project, which is being developed by Thu Thiem Real Estate Joint Stock Company. |
Many areas are narrowed, and some sections are fenced off for construction, such as the section from the intersection of Luong Dinh Cua and An Tu Cong Chua streets to the Luong Dinh Cua - Tran Nao roundabout. |
The median strip on that section of the road was rusted and deteriorated. |
Sections of the road are still littered with construction materials, creating dangerous "traps" for residents. |
A representative from the Transportation Department added that relevant units are studying the possibility of separating a portion of the Luong Dinh Cua road upgrade project and integrating it into the An Phu intersection project to ensure consistency and complete the sections where land is already available. |
According to the Department of Transportation, the project is currently still dealing with weak soil conditions and relocating utilities. |
The Department of Transportation has committed that, if the land handover schedule is met, the Luong Dinh Cua road upgrade project will strive to complete the section from the intersection with Nguyen Hoang road to the Luong Dinh Cua - Tran Nao roundabout this year and complete the entire project by 2025. |
There were only a few workers and some equipment on the construction site. |
Many sections of the construction site are overgrown with weeds. |
The 600-meter stretch from Nguyen Hoang Street to Mai Chi Tho Street is also very narrow, making it difficult for vehicles to move. |
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, the 22,000m2 area partially overlaps with the An Phu intersection construction project – a key city project aimed at reducing traffic congestion in the eastern part of Ho Chi Minh City. |
