Hello Mai!
The fact that you had a Mantoux tuberculin skin test and experienced redness and itching around the injection site 2 days later is a common reaction.
The reaction you experienced could be due to: a positive reaction to tuberculin, meaning the body has been exposed to tuberculosis bacteria (not synonymous with having the disease); or simply a mild local inflammatory reaction due to the body's constitution.
However, if you have had a chest X-ray and there are no signs of tuberculosis and the doctor has not mentioned anything else, then it is likely that you do not currently have tuberculosis.
According to the doctor, mild redness and itching are not dangerous. If the area is swollen, ulcerated or has pus, you should return for a check-up. If further confirmation is needed, the doctor may recommend additional tests such as IGRA (blood test to measure the immune response to tuberculosis).
You should pay attention to systemic symptoms (fever in the afternoon, prolonged cough, weight loss...) - if there are none, don't worry.
Wish you peace and health!
