(NLĐO) - 2025 will be a year of accelerated development for key transportation projects, with many inter-regional connecting works of special significance for Ho Chi Minh City.
In an update on a series of transportation projects in Ho Chi Minh City scheduled to begin after the Tet holiday, Mr. Luong Minh Phuc, Director of the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Works (Transportation Board), stated that 2025 will be the year of inter-regional transportation projects, with the construction progress of many important works being accelerated.
The construction of Ring Road 3, the section passing through Ho Chi Minh City, will be accelerated, with the western 14.7km section open to traffic by the end of 2025.
According to Mr. Phuc, the Ring Road 3 project will be constructed quickly, with 14.7km in the western area of Ho Chi Minh City open to traffic by the end of 2025. On April 30, 2025, Ring Road 3 will be connected to the Nhon Trach bridge project in Dong Nai . Also in the same year, the Ring Road 2 project (section 1, phase 2) will commence, while the Ring Road 4 project will be submitted for approval.
In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway project will also be started this year. Inner-city transportation projects, including the Nguyen Khoai bridge and road, Ton That Thuyet road, and steel overpasses, will be strongly implemented.
2025 is also the year the city will focus its resources on achieving concrete results of Resolution 98 in 5 BOT gateway projects, Can Gio Bridge, Thu Thiem 4 Bridge, and elevated roads, which are of special significance to Ho Chi Minh City in general and the transportation sector in particular.
During this year's Tet holiday, although many projects were accelerated and completed before the holiday, two important projects continued construction throughout the holiday: 10 packages of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project and 6 packages of the An Phu interchange.
Mr. Phuc emphasized: "While everyone is reuniting with their families for Tet, our workers and engineers are accepting a Tet away from home. This sacrifice is immense. The Department of Transportation and other units are implementing many policies to visit, encourage, and appreciate this sacrifice. This is a special gift from the engineers of the transportation sector to the people of Ho Chi Minh City during the Tet holiday of the Year of the Snake."
Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong emphasized the important role of 2025 – the final year of the 2021-2025 term – in accelerating the progress and completion of key transportation projects, contributing to resolving traffic congestion and serving socio-economic development.
Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong stated that the working groups supporting resettlement and public investment need to actively disburse investment capital. Capital allocated for compensation and resettlement support accounts for 40%-60% of the total capital in recent projects. Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong also requested the Transport Department to learn from experience in managing progress and coordinating between contractors. Issues such as the shortage of stone materials in projects like the Tang Long Bridge in Thu Duc City need to be thoroughly resolved.
"In 2025, key transportation projects such as Ring Road 2 will be approved before April 2025, Nguyen Khoai bridge and road, and Ring Roads 3 and 4 will be strongly implemented. The Department of Transportation needs to pay close attention to accelerating progress."
The city government also pledged to continue paying attention to and supporting investors and residents to minimize the impact on their lives. Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong expressed gratitude to the people and businesses for their support in compensation and resettlement work, enabling the continued implementation of projects in the future.
"We expect investors and relevant departments to start working on registered projects right after Tet, especially those projects commemorating April 30, 2025," Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong concluded.
Ho Chi Minh City completes 20 projects and bidding packages in the Year of the Dragon.
To date, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport and related units have basically completed 20 key transport projects, serving the people before the Lunar New Year 2025.
Of these, 7 projects were urgently put into operation before the recent Lunar New Year (Year of the Snake), including:
Tan Binh District: Expansion of Hoang Hoa Tham Street, connecting Tran Quoc Hoan and Cong Hoa streets (Phase 1).
Thu Duc City: Expanding Luong Dinh Cua Street (Phase 1).
District 7: Upgrading the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection.
Binh Tan District: Tan Ky Tan Quy Bridge, Ba Hom Bridge.
