Teachers give notes for candidates to follow when taking the 10th grade exam
Don't lose points because of a calculator.
According to regulations of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, candidates are only allowed to bring into the 10th grade exam room pens, pencils, compasses, erasers, rulers, calculators without text editing functions, and no memory cards.
Regarding calculators, teacher Dang Huu Tri, head of the math group at Nguyen Du Secondary School (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), noted that many candidates lost points because they did not carefully check their calculators before bringing them into the exam room. They shared calculators with their high school classmates, so the units used may be different. When using calculators, if students do not pay attention to unit conversion, it will lead to incorrect results and loss of points.
In particular, teachers noted that the most common mistake students make when taking the 10th grade math entrance exam is not allocating time appropriately. Sometimes candidates do not pay attention and spend too much time on algebra, focusing on solving difficult practical problems, and not allocating time for plane geometry.
Therefore, according to Mr. Tri, candidates should consider the time, can divide equally for geometry and algebra, each part has 60 minutes to do the test. Although the geometry part only has 3 questions and the score is not much, it still takes 60 minutes to do the test because this type of exercise requires candidates to draw pictures and make inferences. The drawing part alone takes 15 minutes, to solve the questions requires the skills of looking at pictures and analyzing, if spending too little time, it is not possible to solve a complete geometry problem, losing points is very regrettable.

Mr. Vo Thien Cang ( Head of Examination and Quality Control Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training )
Do each sentence firmly.
Similarly, regarding the time allocation for the test, teacher Tran Thi Thuong Thuong, head of the foreign language group at Hong Bang Secondary School (District 5, Ho Chi Minh City), stated that the 10th grade English exam consists of 40 questions, including 28 multiple-choice questions and 12 essay questions. Each question, whether multiple-choice or essay, has the same score of 0.25 points. Because the questions, whether easy or difficult, have the same score, when taking the test, candidates need to read the questions carefully, do the easy questions first, do the difficult questions later, and do them firmly.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Oanh, head of the English group at Le Van Tam Secondary School (Binh Thanh District), also reminded candidates: "When taking the English test, you should not rush but need to analyze which grammar points, vocabulary, and structure the test is aiming for to choose the most accurate answer. It is best to write the answer on a piece of scrap paper before writing it on the test."
Ms. Oanh noted that in the sentence writing section, candidates will have difficulty getting points if they are not meticulous. When writing sentences, if you copy just one word wrong, you will lose points, so you must pay close attention. Candidates also need to pay attention to the True/False section, and must not use abbreviations.
