In recent years, all levels, sectors and localities in Quang Ngai province have synchronously and effectively implemented policies and solutions on sustainable poverty reduction, including restructuring crops and livestock, creating jobs... Thereby changing awareness, helping the poor have jobs, stable income, and improving their lives.
Always care for the poor
Sustainable poverty reduction is one of the consistent policies of the Party and State to improve people's lives. In recent times, Quang Ngai province has always focused on implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction and achieved many positive results.
Recorded in localities in the delta such as: Binh Son, Tu Nghia, Nghia Hanh, Mo Duc, Duc Pho, Son Tinh districts... every year, localities conduct surveys and reviews of poor and near-poor households, analyze the causes leading to the difficult circumstances of the target groups. From there, propose appropriate and effective solutions and support policies.

At the same time, strengthen the dissemination of the Party and State's policies and guidelines on poverty reduction with diverse forms and contents, aiming to raise awareness, gradually eliminate the mentality of waiting and relying on others, and promote the people's will to escape poverty; promote the spirit of "mutual love and affection" of our nation towards the poor and people in difficult circumstances.
Mr. Ung Dinh Hien - Vice Chairman of Binh Son District People's Committee said: "Implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the period 2021-2025, the District People's Committee has approved the Plan to implement the Emulation Movement "Binh Son for the Poor - No One Left Behind" in Decision No. 2017/QD-UBND dated July 3, 2022.
The locality has mobilized agencies, businesses, and philanthropists to contribute to the "For the Poor" Fund of communes and towns to support cases of housing and toilet shortages, or directly support poor households, ensuring a minimum standard of living according to the multidimensional poverty standard to sustainably reduce poverty. Priority is given to households with members receiving monthly social benefits to escape poverty.
"From 2023 to present, the "For the Poor" Fund at all levels in the district has supported the construction of 69 new houses, repaired 7 solidarity houses; awarded 58 livelihood packages, 62 study packages to cases of sudden difficulties and poor policy households with a total amount of 3,742 million VND; given Tet gifts to poor households, supported students... with a total cost of nearly 550.7 million VND.

"With preferential capital, contributed capital, and support capital from the business community joining hands to support the poor, Duc Pho town has synchronously implemented regular poverty reduction policies, such as: policies to support production, create livelihoods, vocational training, create jobs, and increase income for the poor; support education and training for students of poor and near-poor households; support health care and legal aid for the poor; support housing and electricity bills...", Mr. Sang shared.
Creating livelihoods to escape poverty
According to Mr. Ung Dinh Hien - Vice Chairman of Binh Son District People's Committee, one of the practical solutions that Binh Son District focuses on implementing is creating conditions for poor and near-poor households with working capacity to borrow capital to create jobs from the Social Policy Bank to develop production, increase income, and sustainably reduce poverty.
In addition, the district coordinates with relevant units to organize job fairs, creating opportunities for workers to choose suitable jobs, stabilize their lives and escape poverty.
Binh Son district has implemented a model to support the development of value chain-linked production - Breeding crossbred cows in 12 communes; with the participation of 142 poor, near-poor, and newly escaped-poverty households; the total state budget capital is 3,395.8 million VND.
For the model of supporting community production development - Breeding crossbred cows for breeding and fattening cattle deployed in 6 communes, Binh Son district supported 114 cows for 114 households with a total state budget of 2,833 million VND.
Thanks to that, Binh Son's poverty rate has decreased to more than 2%, exceeding the target set by the province and district; the near-poor household rate has decreased to 2.8% (down 1.05% compared to the beginning of the year), exceeding the target assigned by the province.

In Duc Pho town, the locality has mobilized the entire political system to resolutely take part, synchronously implement policies, mobilize capital sources from the State and people to create a combined strength, gradually improve the material and spiritual life of the people, and effectively reduce poverty.
"In particular, authorities at all levels always focus on vocational training and job creation for poor and near-poor households; at the same time, effectively restructure agriculture, develop the rural economy, and increase people's income in a sustainable manner.
Thanks to that, the poverty rate has decreased sustainably. Specifically: in 2022 it will decrease to 3.66%, in 2023 it will decrease to 2.99% and it is expected to decrease to nearly 2.5% by the end of 2024.
This is one of the important results demonstrating the attention of the Party Committee and the government, the drastic participation of sectors, levels and localities in joining hands to care for people's lives, ensuring social security...", Mr. Tran Ngoc Sang - Vice Chairman of Duc Pho Town People's Committee excitedly said.
