Speaking to a reporter from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of Vietjet Air said that there are many factors that affect airfares, especially during occasions like Lunar New Year when demand will be concentrated on a few peak days. Many people fly together like on the 27th and 28th of December or the days before the end of the holiday (the 5th, 6th, and 7th of January).
To easily choose flight times and get the best ticket prices, passengers should plan their Tet flights and book tickets early.
"Vietjet is currently selling Tet tickets with many options for ticket types and flight times for passengers to choose from and is always committed to providing the most reasonable ticket prices. Currently, Vietjet's ticket prices from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang, Buon Ma Thuot, Pleiku, Nha Trang, Da Lat start from VND890,000. For routes from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi , Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong, ticket prices start from VND1.79 million (excluding taxes and fees). These prices are lower or only equivalent to recent years despite the context of high input costs and a widespread shortage of aircraft due to engine errors from manufacturers," Vietjet stated.
Regarding the problem of aircraft shortage, airlines Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet said they are still making efforts to continue to welcome new aircraft, strengthen their fleets to serve the flight network expansion plan, and meet customer needs.
Airline tickets for Tet 2025 are being sold early by airlines about 4 months in advance.
In the last months of the year, according to the plan, Vietjet will receive 10 new modern aircraft, the nearest is on October 7, when it will receive the A321ACF aircraft bearing the symbolic image of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam - France diplomatic relations. The newly arrived aircraft will be immediately put into operation, serving the demand during the peak season of the year-end festival, Lunar New Year, increasing flights to Japan, Korea, Taiwan (China), Australia, etc.
"Vietjet has large aircraft orders with manufacturers Airbus and Boeing, with a total of 420 aircraft to be delivered by 2028. Earlier this year, the airline also ordered 20 more modern Airbus A330neo wide-body aircraft to replace its current fleet, opening more routes to Europe, America, Australia..." - the airline said.
Vietnam Airlines also announced that it plans to receive three new aircraft from now until the end of the year to meet the travel needs of passengers during the Tet holiday. Previously, the international airline had just received a new Boeing 787-10 aircraft, joining its fleet of nearly 100 aircraft.
To help reduce pressure on domestic airfares due to market supply and demand factors, prepare for the end of 2024 and be ready for the peak of the Lunar New Year 2025, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said it has directed airlines to arrange and balance transportation resources, and coordinate with ground service units to ensure appropriate load supply.
At the same time, airlines are required to start selling early flight tickets for the Tet holiday so that passengers can choose and make suitable travel plans; speed up the re-operation of aircraft that have completed engine repairs and maintenance from the manufacturer, etc.
