Phan tran 分陳 is a Sino-Vietnamese compound word [historical meaning], in which phan 分 means to justify, express, explain (like dissect; Butterfly hanging under the heart of the mangrove tree/ Want to distinguish between people, come closer and it will be divided - Folk song; tran 陳 means to present (like tran thut 陳述; tran tinh 陳情).
The Great Chinese Dictionary explains: “to divide: to analyze; to explain.” [original text 分: 分解; 排解]; “to narrate: to tell clearly, to explain clearly” [original text 陳: 陳述; 述說].
Phan tran 分陳 is synonymous with explanation; justification; confession (for example: Hard to complain, hard to breathe, hard to explain / Hair not tied, hair tangled, intestines not dried, intestines aching - Folk song).
We do not see the Chinese dictionary and the Chinese dictionary collecting the word "phan tran". Most likely this is a Sino-Vietnamese Vietnamese word (a word composed of elements of Chinese origin, only found in Vietnamese).
2 - “EXCITED tt. In a state of feeling excited, enthusiastic inside, due to some impact. Excited spirit”.
The word "phận Chấn" 奮振 is a compound word of Chinese origin [historical meaning], in which "phận" 奮 means to rise up, to be enthusiastic (like "phận kỳ" 奮起; " Phấn đưu" 奮鬥); "chấn" 振 means to raise up, to rectify (like "chan hung" 振興):
- The great Chinese dictionary explains: "fan: excited [original text 奮: 振奮]; "zhen: excited, excited" [original text 振: 奮起,振作 ]; "phan chan: 1 excited; 2 excited, enthusiastic." [original text 奮振: 1.揚起; 2. 振奮].
- Vietnamese Dictionary (Hoang Phe, editor - Vietlex Lexicography Center, version with Chinese characters for Sino-Vietnamese words): “phận Chấn • 奮振 t. in a state of enthusiasm, excitement due to the impact of a positive event or thought, in line with aspirations: excited spirit ~ “A new source of hope makes me excited again very quickly” (Doan Gioi). Dn: excited, eager, excited * reverse of the Chinese word chan Phấn 振奮”.
Reference: Hoang Phe's Vietnamese dictionary explains "chan chan" as "the reverse of Chinese chan chan 振奮". However, in Chinese there are two synonyms "chan chan 奮振" and "chan chan 振奮".
3 - “TRUMPY tt. Complicated and troublesome, causing difficulties and obstacles. Lots of annoying paperwork”.
The compound word 繁複 is a Chinese origin [meaning the same era]: 繁 (also read as phồn), meaning many, crowded, troublesome, cumbersome, lush, prosperous (like don't bother me anymore; hư mỹ = lush; 繁華; 繁榮); 複 means many, crowded, the opposite of 單 (like 複雜; 複合; simple sentence, complex sentence):
- The great Chinese dictionary explains 4 related meanings: “phiên: 1 many; 2 prosperous, prosperous; 3 full of prosperity, prosperous; 4 mixed, dense” [original text 繁: 1.多; 2.盛大, 旺盛; 3.茂盛, 興盛; 4.雜亂, 蕪雜]; “phúc: many, crowded, complicated” [複: 繁多, 複雜]; “phiên hương: many, crowded and complicated” [original text 繁複: 繁多而複雜].
Reference: The original dictionary (Buu Ke) explains: “phiên-phúc 蘩輻 hư means many, crowded. Phúc is the driver's hand. Phiễn - phục is many and complicated like the driver's hand”.
However, many sources we have in hand do not record the word "hóc 輻" in the word "nhan phi 蘩輻" with the meaning "to make a mess of a car", as explained by the Tam Nguyen dictionary.
Thus, "phan tran" and "chac chan" are words composed of elements of Chinese origin, but both or one of the two elements cannot function independently, so they are often considered reduplicative words. However, with the word "han hanh", both "han" and "han" are words that can stand alone, so "han hanh" is not a reduplicative word.
