Bus tickets for many Northern routes during Lunar New Year are not yet "hot"

While bus tickets are getting hotter on the Southern and Central routes for the 2025 Lunar New Year, in the North, many routes still have few people booking in advance, and many businesses have not yet opened ticket sales for this occasion.

On December 11, according to Giao Thong Newspaper reporters, on the Northern bus routes from Hanoi to the provinces of Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Lao Cai, Ha Giang , Son La, Dien Bien... the number of passengers booking bus tickets before the Lunar New Year 2025 is quite sparse.

On many northern bus routes, the number of passengers booking tickets in advance for the Lunar New Year is still sparse. It is expected that demand for tickets will increase 2-3 weeks before the holiday.

For short routes such as Hanoi to Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, and Thai Binh , transport businesses said they usually accept bookings 2-3 weeks in advance, which is still early to open ticket sales for the 2025 Lunar New Year.

For longer routes such as Hanoi to Son La and Dien Bien, a representative of Hai Van bus company said that from December 12, the company will start selling bus tickets for the Lunar New Year, and is expected to sell out in just a few days, according to the annual rule.

However, if passenger demand remains, there will be plans to increase flights to help people return home for Tet with peace of mind.

On the Hanoi - Thanh Hoa route, a representative of Van Anh bus company said that, specifically on this route, people have the habit of booking a bus 1-2 weeks before the Tet holiday because the route has a large number of buses, so there is no worry about a shortage of buses.

On the other hand, to enhance service to passengers during peak times, this unit has added 15 new sleeper buses and dozens of shuttle buses to pick up passengers from home to the bus station and vice versa, trying not to make passengers wait long or miss their trips.

According to transport businesses, after surveying the needs of people and tourists, there will be plans to increase services, ensuring that no one lacks a vehicle to reunite with their families during the 2025 Lunar New Year.

Meanwhile, on routes to tourist destinations such as Sa Pa (Lao Cai) and Ha Giang, although bus companies' websites have schedules for booking during the Lunar New Year, the number of bookings is quite sparse.

According to the reporter's records on the websites of Sao Viet and Futa Ha Son bus companies on the Hanoi - Lao Cai - Sa Pa route, most of the trips from January 27 (ie the 28th day of Tet) to January 29 (ie the 1st day of Tet) still have many empty beds, with each trip having only 1-6 passengers booked in advance.

The ticket prices offered by the units at this time are still the listed prices (from 310,000 VND/bed), no price increase during peak season.

Meanwhile, on the Hanoi - Ha Giang route, employees of some bus companies such as Quang Nghi and Ngoc Cuong said that, like last year, at this time, there are still very few customers booking tickets for the Tet holiday. The number of customers returning to their hometowns has not increased while the number of tourists, at this time, many people are still considering their travel plans so they are not in a hurry to book tickets.

On the occasion of New Year's Eve, according to a survey by PV, because there is only one day off (January 1, 2025), the demand for bus tickets on this occasion does not increase.

A representative of Hai Van bus company said that in addition to the short break, the two occasions of New Year and Lunar New Year this year are quite close together (only 1 month apart), so people also consider and often tend to wait until Lunar New Year to take a break and go home and travel.

Currently, bus companies in the Northern region are still surveying passenger needs and gradually planning to serve passengers during the 2025 Lunar New Year, from increasing ticket sales staff; maintaining and repairing vehicles to requesting additional trips, trying to ensure that no one lacks a car to return home to reunite with their family during the Tet holiday.
