After discovering a 50m long crack in the mountainous area of Phu Gia Pass, the Thua Thien Hue provincial government urgently evacuated dozens of households to ensure safety.
On November 5, Mr. Phan Cong Man, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Loc district ( Thua Thien Hue province) said that the local government had just coordinated with the military to urgently evacuate dozens of households living at the foot of Phu Gia pass.
In recent days, heavy rains in the area have caused flooding in some areas of Phu Loc district, with the risk of landslides. In particular, in the Phu Gia pass area (Loc Tien commune), there have been minor landslides in residential areas.
On the morning of November 5, the Phu Loc District Military Command sent officers and staff to coordinate with local authorities to the scene to survey and grasp the situation in the Phu Gia mountain area.
According to records, there is currently a crack about 50m long on the mountain, with a landslide about 20m high, posing a very high risk to the lives and property of households living at the foot of the mountain.
Faced with the above situation, the Phu Loc District Military Command quickly directed the Loc Tien Commune Military Command to mobilize officers and soldiers of the local militia force to coordinate with local forces and the commune police to quickly go to the scene to evacuate households living at the foot of Phu Gia mountain to a safe place.
In Quang Tri province , heavy rain on the morning of November 5 caused many low-lying areas to be flooded, some places were flooded from 0.3m to 0.7m.
By the evening of the same day, the authorities had evacuated 9 households/23 people in Tho Son village, 14 households/65 people in Phu Gia village and their belongings to safe shelters. At the same time, the authorities put up warning signs, not allowing people to enter dangerous areas.
Speaking with VietNamNet reporters this afternoon, a leader of Hai Son commune (Hai Lang district) said that heavy rain combined with floodwater from the upper reaches of the O Lau river caused flooding and localized isolation of some houses and inter-village and inter-commune roads.
