The pirated website "Xoilac TV" with 20 different domain names is blatantly violating the media copyright of many football tournaments.

According to Mr. Le Quang Tu Do, copyright infringement is common in cyberspace, especially copyright infringement of football matches in major tournaments such as the English Premier League and matches with the participation of the Vietnamese team.

The Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information has coordinated with large enterprises to find solutions to prevent these copyright violations.

However, there is a current situation where when telecommunications companies block illegal websites, these sites almost immediately change their IP addresses and domain names quickly, taking only about 5-10 minutes.

Mr. Do cited that in the first 4 rounds of the Premier League this season, there were 239 websites that illegally organized live streams of matches; 3,213 links provided free 39 matches of the first 4 rounds. Mainly taken from sources that businesses were officially licensed.

"Among these, the most blatant and serious violation is "Xoilac TV" with 20 different domain names. After coordinating with the police, the telecommunications companies found out that they operate very professionally. They block one page and then create another. Therefore, this violation will not stop at the administrative level but at a higher level," Mr. Tu Do emphasized.

Since the beginning of 2023, the Ministry of Information and Communications has blocked 162 websites that violate copyright and blocked thousands of websites from changing their domain names. However, copyright infringement has not been prevented. Mr. Le Quang Tu Do shared: "We are researching with telecommunications businesses to find technological solutions to find a more effective way to solve this problem."

However, Mr. Do said that if people continue to support pirated websites, officially licensed businesses will no longer buy the rights to broadcast tournaments and then the people will suffer. Therefore, people need to raise awareness in fighting copyright infringement.

Regarding the coordination mechanism with functional agencies to block illegal websites, the Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information said: "The provisions of the law are relatively complete. Blocking is not difficult, the difficult problem is when they change the IP domain name, within 5-10 minutes there must be human resources on duty to block the domain name. The issue is related to the coordination mechanism, resources, economy , relevant agencies need to sit together to coordinate".
